Would depend on the car. I used this to cut down the noise in my camper van on the floor in storage spaces. Your best bet is to get something like Dynamat. It's thin, really damps drumming , rattles and road noise. It's not cheap but it sticks in place and works! **Q: Looking to use this between my engine cover and the engine, is this suitable as it will be touching hot parts of the engine?** A: This product is fire resistant and perfectly suited for use in an engine bay however it is not recommended that its operating temperature exceeds 100 degrees C. Direct contact with engine parts is not advised. **Q: is is suitable and safe to use under bonnet to stop engine noise?** A: That is exactly the products purpose. It is self adhesive (make sure panel is grease and oil free) and the 20mm acoustic foam is designed to absorb engine noise. The product is fire retardant and high temperature resistant with a foil heat shield.
