Nice tool. Compact, easy to use, handles various battery types, and it's inexpensive.
I volunteer for a non-profit replacing batteries in donated watches. I also use illuminated magnifiers and flashlights to see all those tiny parts (and *find them* when they *launch* themselves across the room. So, batteries of various sizes (D, 9V, AA, AAA plus perhaps fifty sizes of silver oxide, lithium, and alkaline "button batteries) are my daily concern. This seemed to fit my needs best. To use it, simply extend the orange terminal slide out wide enough to let you place the battery against the inside terminal, push the orange slide back in till it touches the other end of the battery and read the voltage and the device's opinion as to whether the battery is dead or on its last legs. This tester is compact, doesn't require a power source, adjusts to fit almost all battery sizes, and is accurate enough to let me know if a battery has enough charge to power the watch I'm working on. It fits into my tool kit, doesn't involve any cables and is more rugged than a traditional voltmeter. And it doesn't cost much. I can't speak to its longevity, but it seems durable enough for my needs.

Excellent battery tester for a wide variety of voltages and chemistries
This La Crosse battery tester is an excellent product. It works with a wide variety of voltages and chemistries. I have tried it on alkaline 1.5V (AA, AAA), USB lithium 1.5V (AA), NiMH (AA, AAA), and lithium coin cell 3V (CR2032, etc.) batteries and it appears to give timely and accurate measurements. I love that it is compact so it is easy to store and use on the go. There are a lot of battery testers on Amazon, most of which are Chinese knock offs/generics of a few designs. I appreciate that La Crosse has a unique design with a clear digital readout. You need to know what voltages mean for your particular battery chemistry (1.2V - 1.31V is considered "full" for NiMH batteries, for example), but I much prefer seeing the true voltage readout than generic terms like "good" or "empty". If you are wondering which of the forty different "caliper" or "zigzag" types of battery testers to get on Amazon, don't bother, just get this La Crosse 911-65557-INT one and be happy. The La Crosse 911-65557-INT battery tester is self-powered: powered by the battery that you are testing. There are two points to note about this design. First, if the battery you are testing is truly "dead" (below some critical threshold), nothing will display onscreen because there is no power in the first place. Second, since it is self-powered, the unit itself does not require its own battery so it will always "work" and will not get a corroded battery case because there is no battery case in the first place. If you really need to measure voltage down to the last 0.1V, this product is the wrong product for you. However, if you want to get accurate readings of batteries in various stages, this product is the best one in the price range.

Mini tester that is massively worth it. So easy and fast to check voltage.
Check even the smallest button cell voltage. This is very handy and the cost is reasonable. Had this a week or so, used it to check rechargeable and key fob batteries. This pic is of a very tiny watch battery. Balance it on the neg side (vertical orientation of the unit) and slide the lever closed to check voltage. It worked excellent. So much easier than using a volt/ohm meter. Fun little unit.

Easy to use battery tester that reports actual voltage albiet inaccurately.
Very convenient battery tester that beats pulling out a multi-meter when I'm trying to sort various used batteries. It's a cool design that doesn't require batteries that is probably better for most people but for me I like to usually know the open-circuit voltage. Tested a C and D size cell against my Fluke 117, and noted about 0.029 to 0.031v (29 to 31 mV) difference when measured open circuit. The tester load itself causes it to drop about 0.005v (5 mV) when I measured the same cell simultaneously with the fluke. This works out to be about 0.16 mW load from the tester itself assuming 150 mOhm internal resistance on the cell. So its accuracy is off by about 25 mV, and the load cause by the tester is 5 mV. Shame that I have to do some math in my head (add about 30 mV), but not terrible. Wish there was a potentiometer inside where I could calibrate the readings myself though.

Great functionality and readout display as well as build quality and compact size!
Great little battery voltage tester! I like that it is small and compact but sturdy and solid build quality and feel. It is much better than other competing testers because instead of just a general red bad, yellow weak or green ok reading it tells you that but it also actually gives you a very accurate digital readout of voltage for example 1.62v on a brand new AAA alkaline battery. I love the versatility as it can test/measure the voltage of many different battery sizes/types AA, AAA, C, D, 9V And button cell batteries as well! Very useful and highly recommended!

Fantastic & Accurate Tester For Button Batteries!
Fantastic tester for button batteries! Saved me from throwing several buttons I had on hand away & had tossed yesterday. (I actually dug them back out of the trash) Don’t hesitate to get this one. I tried using the BT-168 battery tester I had on hand & it said several buttons were bad, however upon retesting with this La Crosse model they were still good. The BT-168 is super reliable for other types of batteries but this La Crosse is far superior for button batteries. It’s simple to use and a must have!

HQ LaCrosse battery tester
This is the best battery tester I've ever seen. It doesn't do anything special really, it's just of a much higher quality than any other tester I've had or seen. IMO, even if you have 1 as a part of a battery organizer, you should also get 1 of these LaCrosse testers, just for the quality & ease of use (batteries stay in the tester much better, nice digital display, etc.) I'll be buying more of these testers this fall to give as Christmas gifts this year

Does not require its own battery.
This unit tests the batteries under load. It tests them while drawing power from the battery being tested to power itself. The directions are a bit confusing as they say "Do not leave batteries installed if not being used for prolonged period of time." and "Do not mix battery types" As if it ran on its own batteries like most meters do. Opening it up to see what kind of batteries it takes, reveled that it does not take ANY batteries. SO as I suspected, it displays a lower value against any multimeters I happened to have laying around at the time. Which is GOOD as you want to test your batteries under a little load, as they drop in voltage when under load anyway. AND it's good to low ball it, than expecting a higher value and getting a tenth of a volt less under load. So, all in all this thing is pretty good to have banging around in your battery box or junk draw in the kitchen, in case you need to test a battery you found laying around or trouble shoot something. You don't need to set the voltage slider to test 9V, the circuit detects the high out of range power and switches to 9v test automatically. It's a good little device to have hanging around, I may actually pick up a couple more, just to have one in my tool box and on the bench. It's better than whipping out a multi meter and probes every time you want to test a battery. And it's better than just a needle that says "GOOD, OK, DEAD". I'm pretty surprised with it overall. P.S. There looks like there may be a pot in there to calibrate it, but I don't want to dig the board out to check it out. It's accurate enough for batteries, I never need anything more accurate than -/+ 0.1V for house batteries.

Bon rapport qualité/prix. Parmi les meilleurs lecteurs.
Excellent produit. Belle qualité, très compact, facile d’utilisation, grande diversité de piles dont les piles rechargeables, lecture du voltage interne et de l’énergie résiduelle, pile interne non requise pour son fonctionnement. Vaut les quelques dollars de plus.

Excellent tool for home use
This is a very simple, versatile and effective tool for testing of batteries at home. Very easy to use and digital display bars really help to know the charge status very effectively. Great and must have tool for this digital age with 10s of batteries lying around at home for so many applications. Very reasonable priced for the quality of the product.
