The ratchet makes all jobs easy!
Works better than expected, it cuts effortlessly with the very effective ratchet mechanism. I can find no to fault or criticism from my personal experience with them. Selling at a reasonable £16.95, a great price for such an upgrade from the usual pruning shears.Able to cut through branches up to an inch thick with ease & still able to get the small stuff too, they are easy to store too as the blade is locked using a dual-sided plastic push tab behind the ratchet mechanism. They are ergonomically designed so they are very comfortable to use for long periods of time. Nice and sturdy feeling at 200g.To avoid corrosion they will need oiling after use, if they get wet use some WD40 to get rid of the water before oiling. Thankfully they have a carbon blade, which compared to the usual stainless steel blades stay sharper for longer, which is useful considering they have some downtime during the colder months.Disclaimer. I was supplied the Gardenite Power Drive Ratchet Anvil Hand Pruning Shears free of charge for review purposes. I take reviews very seriously as I base my own purchasing decisions mainly on reviews, so I assure you these are my honest unbiased opinions as I hold integrity above all. I hope you find this review helpful weather or not you choose to buy.

Excellent Value At A Snip.
I already own a pair of secateurs by another brand, however, I have a lot of bamboo growing in the garden and needed a similar but different hand tool to keep it trimmed back. Step forward the Gardenite ratchet pruners.Although my other pair of secateurs would do the job, on thicker, woody stems (of bamboo in particular), the strain on the wrist was very noticeable. However, with these that has been very much resolved. The ratchet mechanism is very affective, and does take a slight adjustment to cutting procedures, that said, a few practice snips and it becomes second nature. The ratchet takes the strain instead of your wrist, and things become a lot easier and more comfortable. You could of course use them for everyday pruning, but they are more designed for those stubborn branches, twigs, thicker stems etc. There is a sliding safety switch on the lower grip, and this is accessible whether you are a lefty (like me!), or of the more common persuasion of being right handed! To release the safety switch it does require a slight squeeze on the grips to release it, and likewise to lock it. Some might say it is awkward, but I feel it is a warranted safety feature on an excellent garden tool for anyone's gardening inventory.

Good, but a bit lightweight.
These do a good job, but the ratchet mechanism has a rather imprecise feel and overall weight and size are quite small. Only time will tell whether they are durable. The design could be improved by providing a small lanyard to hang them up - but despite the photo showing a hole at the bottom of the handle, there is none and so this can't be added by the user.

Makes a tough job easy.
I have never used ratchet shears before and, at first, didn't know how to use them. Once I'd worked out how they operate I set about cutting up an overgrown bush, many of the branches were an inch thick. These shears worked superbly well, they make very light work of everything I attacked and my hand was not aching afterwards. It is a brilliant design.

Excellent
I purchased a set of these shears for my father and then was offered a set free of charge to review by a supplier. Both my father and myself have found the shears easy to use and really sharp. The shears have already cut through a variety of shrubs and tree branches and much better then the set they are replacing.

Excellent cutters for tough pruning. No need to look anywhere else
These Power Drive Ratchet shears are perfect. I have manged to cut through 2cm tough dry mature ivy stalks like cutting through butter. Solid as a rock - these are an excellent build and fit the hand perfectly (with a plenty clearance between handles not to nip the skin!). Highly recommended. Very good value.
