Was only going to be short lol..
I bought this elsewhere along with other homebrew items (for which I use it for) so the total qualified me for free delivery. Anyway...I used to use VWP sanitiser (which I believe is also a cleaner as opposed to just steriliser such is Starsan) for my homebrew equipment & it was a pain in the rear having to thoroughly rinse everything out afterwards. I chose Starsan over the powdered form of no rinse sanitiser so I didn't need to worry about water being hot to dissolve the powder properly. I find the easiest & quickest way to measure out the right quantity is by using a syringe & squirting measured amount straight into a measuring jug with required amount of water. Onto stetilising..It will foam up a little inside your bottles etc but this can be ignored & you can pour in your beer while still wet & foamy... Might sound expensive but this stuff will last for ages! Esp if you don't do the mistake I first made when first sanitising my fermenting bin. DON'T feel you have to fill the bin up to the brim to soak...the only thing getting sanitised is where the product is touching the walls..not the great void it's filling inbetween! After cleaning with washing up liquid/warm water....I'll dilute up to 2 litres worth (instead of wasting 23 litres)..throw it in the bin..put the lid on...and give it a good shake for around a minute..covering all the insides. I also use a bottle rinser to sanitise my bottles...again...this will take less that a litre of diluted solution....(and after sanitising my bottles I'll keep the sanitiser to throw in the now empty bucket after cleaning)...or you could just pour solution from one bottle to the next. One more thing..I hadn't a clue why the bottle had two caps & that tube down the side...but you unscrew the cap off the top of the small reservior side & then you can squeeze the bottle so Starsan goes up the tube & into the reservior...Oh..one more little tip.....if you have a rubbish sample vial and take your hydrometer readings from the bucket instead, when you've finished sterilising your fermenting bin, pour some of the used starsan into your vial and then after you take your first reading..rinse...pop hydrometer back into starsan filled vial..and it's good to go for next readings. happy brewing.
