Still getting the hang of sharpening my knives and carving tools. The whetstone has worked well and I'm learning as i go. I left water/moisture between the stone and the wooden stand causing mold. I was able to get it fairly clean but realize to completely dry after use.

I am a newbie when it comes to sharpening knives. I've used the ones that you just pull the knives through and they do a decent job, but don't give you any control and I never got my knives really sharp with them. Out of the box this feels like a high quality product. Everything is included that you need to get started sharpening. I've only used it a few times so I can't speak too much to longevity, but I expect it to last a very long time. There is a bit of a learning curve to using this whetstone if you haven't done it before. I watched a few different YouTube videos that helped a lot. I ended up not really using the edge guide that's included because it seemed like it limited me with the type of knives I was sharpening. It was easy enough to hold the knives at the correct angle with a little bit of practice. The first time I used the whetstone it probably took about 5 minutes to sharpen one knife. Now with a little practice I can do it in about a minute or two. The results I got from using this whetstone were way better than the sharpeners I had used before, even on my first time using it. I expect that as I get better they will continue to improve even more. I am very happy with my purchase and think it's a great way to improve your knife sharpening.

This was my first experience with whetstones and I think it’s a great value. I strongly recommend that you make sure to dry the wood block very thoroughly after using it because it will start to grow mold if you just place the stone back in and store it in a drawer. I usually leave it out to air dry for a day after cleaning it before putting it away.

Has done nicely keeping my kitchen knives sharp for chopping. My boyfriend is the one to use it, I have watched. It is slip resistant, durable, and works well!

This is actually a good, flat stone. The difference between the 1k and 6k sides seems to be about what it should. This is the last stone I put hand plane steels on before a leather strop. There are some similar stones out there that you can’t even tell which side is more coarse. This is not one of them. Incredible value at this price (<$20)

Great stone for sharpening our Hexclad knives. Was very nervous about using this on our expensive knives. Watched a bunch of videos on techniques, and did very well with great results. Only thing I would recommend, is to let the stones and wood holder dry for a very very long time before storing. In fact I got rid of the box. Had some black moldy looking stuff on the wood after storing in box. Definitely my mistake. Love this product.
