Guitar Chords for Dummies

Dummies
Not a book for Dummies. You will need a lot of time to try to understand this book as it goes into a lot of theory which you will need to understand. I didn't. Wished I had stuck in at school 53 years ago. Your never to old to learn.

Very Comprehensive
This book will show you how to play every chord you're ever likely to need and a few more besides. Looking through it at the start, it can seem quite confusing and the huge amount of chords it contains can seem a little off-putting, and yes, looking at the family names and roots and so on can be quite daunting; indeed, some can seem more complex than an algebra equation, especially for a novice like myself, but a little bit theory never did anyone any harm. And besides, if push comes to shove, you don't really need to know about or understand the roots and so on. If you know what a chord is, then this book is pretty much the only one you'll need for the sheer number of chords it features. The main thing here is that there is a chord diagram and a photo illustration of each and every of the 600+ plus chords in the book. And it is these that are the main purpose of the book. They show where to place your fingers, the open strings and which strings need to be strummed to get the right note. Of course, the natural limitation of the book is that it doesn't show you how to actually play guitar, merely how to finger position the chords, so don't buy it expecting to learn how to play. Well worth the £7 I paid as it is proving to be an indispensable guide to the chords.

Nice book...but some errors
Clearly laid out. Easy to navigate. But already found errors on first few pages:P.13 refers to Figure A .......but there is NO Figure A. The author must mean the scale on page 11.The table on p.12 says the distance between the Root and a Major Third is 3 tones.......but on p.13 states this distance is 2 tones.Hopefully there aren't other typos which spoil an otherwise excellent book.

Superb guide showing every chord you are likely to encounter
This is an extremely good guide to guitar chord finger placements. There is a lot of technical detail which may be of interest to people who want to learn more about chord formations but that does not have to be read. Most people will use this book simply to see finger positions of unusual chords they need and for that this book is perfect. It fits well inside most guitar cases.

Every Chord You Think You Need
This is an excellent little book that folds flat and is well presented. Every guitar player and aspiring guitar player should have a copy.

Not for dummies...
It’s not really for dummies or beginners, but it’s a comprehensive reference source for a whole lot of guitar chords. I like the spiral binding, not so keen on the organisation of the book.

Guitar for dummys
If this book is for dummys, I must be even thicker. It is so complicated, hard to understand. Not for beginners like me. Just shows you every chord on the frets. And that's it. My suggestion is watch YouTube videos, you will learn alot more than in this book.
