BANANAGRAMS, My First, Word Game, Ages 4+, 2-8 Players, 15 Minutes Playing Time, Multicolor

It’s brilliant! I bought it for taking into schools for working with kids with additional support needs and it is one of the most valuable items in my kit. It’s so versatile as it can be played as intended with more capable children, which helps to increase vocabulary, comprehension and can help to improve spelling but, it is also fantastic for helping younger or less able children get to grips with their phonics (not solely but, as part of a precision teaching programme) They segment certain couplings and it is super for helping to illustrate rhyme and can be used for helping blending. It’s also a fun game to play at home with my own 3 children. I definitely recommend.

We bought this First Bananagrams as we have the regular yellow one at home, and our kids enjoy playing with it. However, the regular one uses uppercase letters, and our son was copying them in his school work. So we got this one as it all lower case and that has rectified the issue. The kids enjoy maming up words they are currently learning, and it is a great visual tool to show them how certain words can be formed if you change one letter etc. They feel great and are lovely and brightly painted making them very attractive to little people! We will be using these for spelling homeworks as the kids get older, and hope to play the actual game once they have learnt enough words to participate. Highly recommend this and any of the Bananagrams games.

I love the look and feel of these tiles - bright and attractive for young players. Using different colours for vowels and letters often reversed is a super idea. The combo letter tiles is great for reinforcing sounds represented by two letters. The little white notch at the bottom of each tile helps young children keep the letter facing the correct way up. Unfortunately my set had one letter inserted the wrong way into the tile. So the letter n looked like a u on a blue tile. Confusing! I wonder is there a way for me to remove it and turn it round? Or can I get a single tile replacement?

I wanted to get the traditional Banangrams but was concerned the capital letters would be confusing for my son and then I found these! Perfect for early readers as they are lower case and also have graphemes etc.. so really good for getting kids to make words and sentences, I'm also having fun with them by fishing for the letters and making words, freezing them in ice etc... they are very sturdy and durable, waterproof and easy to take around in the little bag provided. Definitely recommend for 4-7 year olds learning to read and write and easy to get creative with them!

We love Bananagrams and have recently also bought the Bananagrams Dice Game - Zip-it. This is a version of the traditional Bananagrams for younger kids. All they need to know is some letters and they will be away. The pieces are of excellent quality and the zip bag, as usual is lovely. We play the usual Bananagrams rules but you can swap one letter for another if you are stuck. There are phonic sounds like OO in the tiles which helps kids to remember these. This is a very exciting, fast moving game which allows younger children to reinforce their letters and sounds whilst frantically competing which makes for a very exciting and educational combination. The quality of the Bananagrams range means than they are destined to last for years and are so portable as to make this the ideal restaurant game (if you don't mind the excited shouts!!). Recommended for pre-schools and into Reception and Year 1

We really enjoy the original Bananagrams game, so I bought this for my 5 year old for xmas. She loves the feel of the letters and is enjoying laying out new words and playing around with the letters. My 8 year old son is more equipped to play the game, but finds using these tiles a bit easier. The colour coding system is really helpful as are the lines under the letters so as not to get confused with 'n' and 'u' etc. There are some great suggestions for games for various aged children. I'm really happy with it.

Good intro for games and also helps with reading and spelling.

Schönes Spielzeug für Kinder, die stabilen Steine und bunten Farben machen die Buchstaben interessant, es werden sofort Namen und andere Wörter gelegt. Um damit richtig üben zu können, wäre eine Anpassung der vorhandenen englischen Ausgabe an die Landessprache, für Deutsch also mit anderer Buchstabenverteilung, Umlauten, "ß" und passenden "Verbindungen" wünschenswert. Ich kann auch nicht verstehen, warum es in der Kinderversion nur kleine Buchstaben gibt, bei uns lernen die Kinder ja entweder beides oder erstmal nur die Großbuchstaben. Das "große" Bananagrams ist dann allerdings von der Farbgebung wieder weniger spannend für Kinder.

Good help to learn reading and builds words for little ones

Little bit by little bit these help little people to learn to read. Just don't take too many out of the bag to begin with, just take out what is needed.

Got this game for my son and love it. I have the original game and the difference is this version will chunk letters that go together in words that little might not understand yet. Eg. Ch, oo, ou, are all chunked to make this easier to spell. Great for younger children just starting to spell/read!
