I really enjoyed reading it
The book seems to get more interesting the further you get into it and I’m worried that some people might just give up on the introduction and the first two chapters and miss the best bits. It’s interesting learning about different cultures from different countries but it’s also a good reminder that people in our country are going to have different styles and approaches even though we were born and raised in the same country. A useful reminder that there are lots of different ways to think about things and process things and when other people seem frustrating they may just be thinking in one of these other ways. If you’ve only got time to read one chapter I suggest you read chapter 3 on different ways of persuasion which I thought that was the most interesting chapter. Chapter 4 about hierarchical environments and non-hierarchical environments is also very interesting as well. There are plenty of real life examples which keeps it interesting and readable and less boring. There are eight short punchy chapters (25 pages each) discussing 8 different aspects. I am retired I’m just reading it out of interest - you don’t have to be involved in international business to consider this a good read.

Insightful read on cultural differences
I really liked this book. I first saw it in a bookstore but waited to read some reviews before buying. I couldn’t find it in-store again at the same price as Amazon, so I ordered it here. The copy arrived clean and in great condition. I enjoyed reading about different cultures — at times it feels a bit generalizing, but there’s definitely truth in it. I’d recommend it to anyone, especially if you work in a multicultural workplace or study in an international school, as it gives a valuable perspective.
