Can this be used to activate a light when the detector is triggered? Does is need any addtional circuitry to do so?

This is a alarm PIR as such it is 12volt and designed to switch a trigger current on either a falling and or rising voltage only, the switching transistors are very small and would not be able to cope with the load. There are many PIR available which are designed to switch loads up to 2000 watt.

Is this ok for a parogon alarm

I don't know details about the Paragon alarms, but if it's a wired system (as opposed to wireless), then these PIRs and their connections are standard: 12V supply from alarm panel, normally-closed alarm contacts, and normally-closed 24-hour security loop (if you use this feature). I'm pretty sure it will work in any wired system ! Beware -- See also my earlier review about the so-called "pet-immunity" of this product !!! Cheers Adrian

Yes, when activated, the red light comes on. To test it, set your alarm and when set, move in front of the detector in question.

will this work outside ie is it IP 67 rated?

It is not IP rated to IP67. It does not carry any formal IP classification as it is intended for use indoors.
