Review: Like New - Used on my Cornford Carrera valve amp. Did a full service new valves and pots cleaned. Excellent product. Also used on my guitars scratchy pickup selector switches.
Review: Expensive, but, well worth it.... - Bought this as a last resort before putting my venerable 30 year old NAD 3130 amplifier in for repair. The amp has suffered from the right audio channel "drop out" for a considerable time. I sprayed all the moving parts inside the amp, volume/balance pots, switches, etc, worked them as per instructions. Lo and behold both channels now working perfectly with no background "noise". I also tried it on the volume control of a "face off" car stereo that has been very dodgy for a considerable amount of time - same result - now working perfectly. Although it is expensive for such a small can, it's a very inexpensive repair when compared to putting the amp to a specialist (I don't know what it would have cost......)

**Q: What about cleaning contacts on older electro mechanical pinball machines?**
A: This CAIG DeOxit Cleaning Solution should be a great chemical for cleaning your old pinball machines.

**Q: What is the difference between the 5% and 100% (besides 95)?  Does the 5% have a less concentrated solution?  5% isn't compared to100%**
A: As I undertstand it, the 5% has 95% volitile compounds which quickly evaporate.  The 100% is all DeOxit.  There are different applications where one might be preferred over the other, but you'd be better served by contacting Caig and asking them.  The 5% is the most commonly used.  I buy it at Guitar Center locally and it works like a gem for my needs, which include circuit boards and general metal surfaces.  I have revived many appliances with a spray on the metal contacts.

**Q: Can I use this on a switch that is causing an arching problem?**
A: Yes but you're better off getting the highest grit sandpaper and lightly sanding it and then using the product

I have never believed it when people have told me that there is no alternative to DeoxIT when it comes to cleaning pots, sockets and other electronics. I got myself a contact cleaner by another brand and thought that would solve my issue. Wrong. Since I used Deoxit on the sockets of my 50s tube (valve) amp, it has worked perfectly and silently. I give in. There really isn’t an alternative that works. Extraordinary product that has no rivals. A complete monopoly which I reluctantly accept!
