Buy Lonely Planet Goa & Mumbai (Travel Guide) by Lonely Planet, Harding, Paul, Blasi, Abigail, Holden, Trent, Stewart, Iain from desertcart's Fiction Books Store. Everyday low prices on a huge range of new releases and classic fiction. Review: Excellent resource - I love this guide. Full of practical and useful advice. I used this on a recent trip that took in both Mumbai and Goa. I couldn't believe my luck when I spotted it for sale. It's a handy companion, even a good size, to bring along in your bag. Use this to get clued up before you go and to use as a quick reference when you're out there. ALWAYS ask locals for advice though. The people are super friendly and will go out of their way to help. Although the opening of this book describes Mumbai as full of "gangsters and movie stars", I didn't run into either. Just a lot of really friendly helpful people who were only too happy to help out. Enjoy your trip, it's not nearly as scary as you might think! Review: Excellent must have travel guide! - We took three different travel guide books on our trip to Goa this year and after the first day ditched the other two as this one covered everything, it was so informative and accurate. Down to earth descriptions of the accommodation, places to eat and things to do in the surrounding area, it was spot on!

A useful guide
I always buy a lonely planet for cities/regions/countries that I visit and travel around. They offer good advice, guidance, and maps, and this edition is no exception, though they are best used in conjunction with some online research! As with other editions I find that some of the suggested itineraries are not doable, unless you are prepared to be on the move all the time. I'd suggest picking out some highlights and making your plans from there.

Perfect accompaniment to getting around
A very useful book, most of the details are still the same as in the new edition, just a small increase in costs for entrance fees etc.

Poorly laid out+confusing, but does have some good info.
So I had to leave a review... It's got some good info in this book, but the format and layout is abysmal. The way the listings are written is very confusing. On the map there are are numbered points which correspond to a list, but then the descriptions of those points are not in the same order nor do they have the corresponding number next to each listing. I found out after that they are ordered in the authors preference if visiting..And by geographic order and sometimes by price. But this means you have to spend far too much time thumbing back and forth through pages trying to find the listing you want. And the authors preference might not be your preference, and prices can change so the format seems redundant. I still bought it based on reviews as it does contain some good info, but the format really puts me off. I'll be sticking to DK Eyewitness in future, and the only reason I bought this was because the Mumbai one is being released in October or later this year. Your best off reading travel blogs and planning that way, or taking several hours before the trip to make a plan and fill the book with post it notes ๐ Also it really is mostly about Goa, Mumbai doesn't get much of a mention!
