I have them hanging under my cupboard I have used wide magnetic strips used for tools and recently strong magnetic off cut roll. I had to glue magnet strips on as the self adhesive wasn't strong enough. I have the large jars and they hold up when full of salt.

As far as I can tell, the lids are not scented and I have not smelt any scent. The lid are enclosed and fit inside the pot. They are great for keeping spices and dried herbs, so much so, I now have 48 and as far as I am concerned they are brilliant!!!!!

Q: In case I wanted to keep some of these jars without the inside lid, would the jar still close tighty?

Yes, not air tight but can be hung by the outer lid, so snug fit.
