Keychron K5 SE Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Mechanical Keyboard, 104 Keys, White Backlight, Low Profile Gateron Red Switch, Mac/Windows Compatible

i tried 4 or 5 different mechanical keyboard brands until finding this one, which is exactly what i was looking for. everything that's needed on a keyboard, and no useless bells and whistles that do nothing but entice wannabe streamers to buy it for their insta feed. the minimalist design of this keyboard along with the low profile give it the smallest possible footprint on the desk, and it's built like a tank. i love it so much i bought a second one for work.

The keyboard feels great, seems sturdy (time will tell) but right out of the bat, the eye searing blue LEDs that you can’t turn off are a disappointment. There is also an issue with some of the custom keys such as the microphone one. In Windows it’s permanently mapped to Cortana but Cortana was phased out, so the key is useless. This keyboard can’t be programmed so there’s no fixing that. Other than that, this is one of the only Keychron models with see-through key backlighting, which was one of the main reasons I went for it. The programmable ones have opaque keys and the backlighting is useless (only for show).

Be careful when buying. The red switch keyboard is wired and bluetooth only. It does not come with a USB dongle. The bluetooth is extremely laggy and makes this keyboard unusable. 1/10 do not buy the red switch variant. My mistake for not paying attention between the differences. I find it absolutely abhorrent that Amazon or Keychron would do this with products of the same exact model. Why not make them all have a USB dongle as well as bluetooth and wired????????

Bluetooth connectivity takes an inexplicable amount of time, especially after the keyboard goes into standby. Worked with support to check firmware, but was never able to get the keyboard to be recognized via the site they provided (on a Mac). Keyboard feel is great, but overall the connectivity delay is a deal breaker.

Loved the construction and sturdiness of the keyboard. It is solidly made. Enjoyed using it but stopped due to very poor battery life when using bluetooth. Turned lights off in attempt to improve battery life but to no avail. Having to charge every day and half was annoying to do. My Logitech mx keyboard works for several weeks on end in comparison.

I've been using this keyboard for over a month now. I have never typo'd so much in my life. if you're a professional that relies on accurate typing, please go elsewhere. I wish I had.
