When I bought this I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. I'm happy to say it has actually surpassed my expectations, but that's not to say there aren't some negatives about it. Firstly, I bought this because my rented house has old double-glazed windows that basically aren't double glazed. Despite running a dehumidifier to the point where the air was as dry as a desert, and the wife and I would wake up feeling hungover we were so dried out during the night, the windows were still covered in condensation. And with condensation comes black mould. So I bought this. To be honest I felt cheated when I got it. It is just a sheet of thin plastic and some double sided tape. So not worth the money, right? And then there was the putting it up. Having to find floorspace enough to cut a window shaped size, while the cat bounds around on her new crunchy crispy playground that you (obviously) have bought just for her was a pain in behi d to say the least. Depending on how big your window(s) is/are you're probably going to need a hand putting it up. Sometimes the plastic sheet hits the exposed tape before it's meant to causing rucks etc. Most of these you can sort out with a hairdryer, but some you can't. There isn't a worse feeling than fecking around with all this only to find a huge crease along your window pane that won't go away. Finally, it's up. You take the hairdryer to it and eventually you cant even see that it's there. Not only has it stopped ANY condensation forming on my windows, it has also made my house much warmer. Win! I've actually placed it to just above the window handle meaning I can still open and close my windows, and therefore I leave it on during summer. I've had the current set on for about a year. Just beware, you forget it's there. So you go to peek out the window at something going on outside only to bump your face against the new invisible forcefield before the glass. Doesn't hurt, but can break the sheeting. Overall then this is the most effective, simple, yet fiddly solution I can imagine. For the results I've had I'd say this is as cheap as chips. However, if I'm basing it on what you're actually paying for then I'd say this is overpriced. But since it's not going to break the bank, if in doubt I'd say go for it. I will definitely get it again if needed.

Living with large single pane victorian style windows, condensation and heat loss has proven to be my biggest problem coming in to the colder months. I applied this to one of my windows as a tester and it's worked wonders, absolutely no condensation whatsoever. The adhesive doesn't seem to be particularly strong so I also framed it off with clear celotape for peace of mind. I Have now ordered 3 more for my other windows, slightly awkward to put up and the occasional wrinkle, but the difference it makes is worth dealing with the finicky application. I do feel like the price is slightly steep for some plastic and tape but it will pay itself off through energy saving so it is what it is :)

Pros: good quality foil and double sided tape. Sufficient amount of tape. Small cardboard packaging. Good easy instructions. Strong hold on the tape even tho I reglued one window sheet when learning. Very good transparency. Doesnt look like theres foil unless you touch it. And most of all does insulate. When I press it to feel the window glass underneath, the glass is very cold but the foil pleasant lukewarm. Attached yesterday on three windows and kitchen door. No condensation between the foil and the glass. I mounted it on double glazed pvc windows in the study, living room and kitchen and on pvc kitchen door as these are the rooms i spend most of my time working from home and bedroom i only use in the evening. Although the room temp in those rooms and the two bedrooms is the same, the quality of that cold is different. In the bedrooms its more chilly on the skin and in the insulated ones it's still pleasant despite being 16c only. I'm trying to postpone having to put heating on as it's just me in a three bedroom flat of energy efficiency E only and that will definitely help. Cons: only that it might require some manual skills and patience. It's not for people who are not very technical or manual unless you won't mind some excess foil if not tensed enough. I had manual jobs before so ended up invisible but it might not be the case with everyone. Process: the manual says leave 5cm spare around the tape and when taping do the top and the sides, then bottom. I wanted to cover as many windows as possible with one sheet so i kept less than 5cm. Turned out still good and did three rooms in full with still some bits left. Also i found it easier to tense and avoid excess wrinkling and flapping about being visible on the window by doing too, then bottom, then readjusting top, then doing one side at a time to tense it more. Then you heat the tape and run your fingertips alongside to smooth any wrinkles on tape or bubbles. Also heating (not too close not to melt) made the foil adjust and tense in the corners so it's tense as s string and straight like glass. See pictures. Advice: the heating doesn't make it heat shrink to glass. It smooths out excess and most of all helps the adhesive. It's not meant to stick to glass but create air chamber between just like you have between two sheets of glass in double glazed. So on singke glazed old windows you'll make them double glazed. Which is fab. If you have wooden frames, I would recommend maybe sanding or varnishing smooth first. I don't know how the tape would stick to rough wood. I used for smooth frame. Take your time. Don't rush. Plan by looking back first how you'll do it in terms of where to put tape. I saw reviews of people wanting to use around the handles and on the far outside part of frame. This is not for that. If you need to insulate the frame, use self adhevise rubber seals for doors and windows or poll filla foam. This product doesnt insulate window frames, it's supposed to insulate the glass and also stop any draft from places where the glass goes into the frame, not where the frame goes into the wall. Think of it as another sheet of glass and check where original glass goea into the window frame. This is how you'll know where to put the tape and mount it all. Was going to wash the outside of windows first to test extendable pole i bought, so that it would show full transparency but it's a rainy weekend.

Just have a brand new patio window installed so perfect opportunity to try out this insulation method. What a waste of time and wrangling with the plastic sheet on such a large pane of glass. Applied to one door only so could make a comparison. It made absolutely no difference whatsoever to the cold coming through or the condensation which collects at the bottom. I don't know whether the plastic sheet needs to be thicker in order to be efficient, this is as thin clingfilm, don't waste your money, emperors new plastic. Also every tiny bit of fluff and dust sticks to the plastic so it's a v v v frustrating job to get it on the window clean. you clean the window first but the plastic acts like a dust magnet and attracts everything to the glass you've just cleaned and the plastic sheet. don't waste your time and energy. disappointing. Tried to give zero stars but of course you can't.

The product would probably be great on windows where you have a lot of flat space round the window to apply the adhesive tape, but on awkward shaped windows like mine it's awkward. I added these to my victorian sash windows and had to tape onto corners because of the way the windows are made. First day or so you couldn't see the film and could definitely feel insulation improvement. Much warmer in the room. But after several more days the plastic shrunk and took the tape off the tight edges, losing the vacuum and crinkling the shrinkwrap. It does say in the instructions you need a decent space between tape and glazing though. And I did buy knowing this.

i was a little apprehensive about putting this up .... my main reason for doing so is my home is listed and has single glazing and i livterally am across the road from the sea so condensation is a nightmare. the impact this has had is immediate. condensation reduced to an absolut minimum rather than running down the window pain ... as for visibility, it is not an exaggeration to say the the clarity is such that i genuinely do not know its up. i would take a photo but honestly, theres no point as you would see anything! remarkable and actually fun to put up because when you run the hair dryer over it you see all the wrinkle disappear. (i know right? little things please little minds). is there a rise in the warmth of the room is more hard to tell as i have 15 ft high ceilings ... lets just say i don't notice it being any colder.

Looks terrible from outside - like baggy clingfilm. However, it stopped condensation from forming (I used to have to window vac every morning). The room feels warmer too. I'm glad I've bought it, but it looks dreadful from outside.

Yes, I know I gave this product 4 stars but that is because anyone with a brain ignores 5-star reviews. The real opinions can be found under 4 stars. I have used Tesa products before, so buying this one was a no-brainer. I have a draughty house and I was fed up with ignoring them. It does not matter if does not look nice it is purely a temporary measure and will come down in the Spring. As soon as I fitted this to a bay and bathroom windows I noticed the immediate change in the room temperature. And I kicked myself for not doing this last year! My tips for fitting the film is to allow plenty of time, especially if you have not done this before. The surfaces the tape is sticking to have to be extremely clean. No flaky paint, stains, lumps etc. I used a regular surface cleaner and dried the surfaces afterwards. I then used isopropanol and dried that too. Do not touch the surface with your fingers again. I started by taping the corners first, making sure I overlapped the tape a few millimetres. Tape it, remove the top cover then continue taping. Don't tape everything first then remove the top layer, there are no shortcuts. That's why I said give yourself plenty of time. Once you have done the corners and taped the gaps between them cut the film with at least 5cm extra all around. Using both hands gently stretch out the top of the film with both hands as you approach the window. Keeping it taught press one corner then the other corner while still taught and smooth down the rest of the film on the top of the window. Always taking care not to attach the rest of the film anywhere else. If you do just gently rove the part that is stuck. Now again with both hands hold either side of the film and again as taught as possible slowly work your way down the frame, sticking as you go. Don't over-stretch, just enough so there is no sagging. Again once at the bottom press in one corner then the next as you did at the top. Firmly press the film onto the tape around the window. Get yourself a sharp knife if you are working in a recess or sharp scissors for the outside of the frame and trim off the excess plastic. Now the fun part. Using a hairdryer, any one will do as long as it has a hot setting. Switch it on and depending on how hot the dryer gets determines the distance away from the film. Too close and you puncture the plastic and you are back to square one. Too far away and the film will not shrink. Once you find the sweet spot where the wrinkles disappear then just move the dryer back and forth across the window and watch the wrinkles vanish. You should be left with a window just as it was before you did anything and without any draughts. If not as it looks awful but you have no draughts then remember it is only temporary. I highly recommend this product and I hope this review helped.

Les vitres ne s'embuent plus en hiver. Assez facile à utiliser, mais il faut être très prudent et délicat lors de la pose et de la répartition du film, et appliquer le ruban adhésif à 1,5-2 cm du bord intérieur du cadre.

Funciona perfectamente y no es complicado ponerlo. Un defecto? Mis ventanas son con contras/co traventanas y al colocar el plástico no permite que se cierren totalmente. No es problema para mí, pero que se sepa.

Die Folie ist super. Der Klebestreifen hält auch sehr gut am Rahmen. Mit dem Fön können kleine Beulen, Knicke, Verwerfungen ausgebügelt werden. Habe kreisrunde einfachverglaste Fenster damit isoliert weil runde Kunststoffrahmen sehr dick, teuer und hässlich sind. Im Fensterausschnitt noch einen herausnehmbaren Holzrahmen mit Plexiglas gebastelt. Jetzt haben die Blumen sogar noch einen Wintergarten. Hält muckelig warm.
