Fright Night [1985][Region Free][Nordic Import] Blu Ray

***SPOILERS ALERT***Fright Night Fright Night is a 1985 American horror film written and directed by Tom Holland and produced by Herb Jaffe. It stars William Ragsdale, Chris Sarandon, Roddy McDowall and Amanda Bearse. The film's plot follows young Charley Brewster who discovers that his next-door neighbor, Jerry Dandrige, is a vampire. When no one believes him, Charley decides to get Peter Vincent, a Vampire Hunter TV show host, to stop Jerry from starting a massive killing spree. The film was released on 2nd of August 1985.If your a diehard fan of the original 1985 Fright Night and not so much of the attempted flop remake of 2011 starting Colin Farrell. Then this is a MUST for your Blu-ray collection. But I was baffled by which one I should own as there is the Twilight Times Blu-ray release Limited to 3000 copies SOLD OUT? Which the cheapest used on ebay was £59.99 and a Seller on Amazon selling Twilight Times Blu-ray release for £160? Then I discovered Fright Night 1985 Germany Rare Blu-ray Region FREE on eBay go for about £20 + £1.26 P&P. So what's the difference? This is where I throw the monkey wrench in! I found a site that reviewed both. The Germany release is disturbed by Sony. Then I dropped lucky and discovered this Nordic Blu-ray Region FREE release on a social media site which was released on the 15th October 2014. So if you want to save yourself a lot of money I bought Fright Night(1985)(Region Free)Nordic Import) Blu-ray New Sealed for £13.90 + £1.26 = £15.16 from BluRaysAndSpecialEditions on the 16th October 2014 a day after it had just been released and arrived on the 25th October 2014 just in time for Halloween!!!

brewster a horror nut believes he has a vampire living next door and trys to convince his girlfriend and friends that hes telling the truth failing to convince the police and everybody else he seeks out tv vampire peter vincent between the pair they have a running fight around the city with dandridge the vampire who has abducted and turned brewsters girlfriend...........the film is a classic and not to be confused with the remake which has the same plot but not as good this dvd was releasesd from the eu at an exellent price , funnily enough if you tried to obtain it years a go it would have cost a small fortune

If your wanting a quick fix due to Twilight Time out pricing the fans to own a quality copy of the best horror film ever made (Fright Night) then I would say this release will do just that.No extras sadly, the cover is awesome as ever, the spine cover work is odd and squashed and doesn't sit great on your DVD shelf if your a collector but once you popped the disc into the player and see the quality of this film in HD then you pretty much forget the rest as the film has never looked better. Its clearly a better price than anything else on the market so I recommend this for the time being.

Let me just say this: this is a review of both the 1985 Fright Night movie and my opinion of the blu ray transfer hence the rating.The movieThe movie is great! I watched it for the first time a few months ago (I had previously refused to watch it because the DVD had an 18 certificate, and at that time, I thought that all 18 horror movies would be extremely bloody/gory, which I have since learned is not always the case - it is true of the newer movies, but not all of the slightly older ones (1960s and 70s)). Honestly, the first thing I thought was "It is so refreshing to see a traditional vampire" (can't look at crucifixes, gets burned by holy water, doesn't sparkle in sunlight, etc). I know there's also Bram Stoker's Dracula from 1992, but I HATED that movie!Anyway, back to this movie: everything about it is great - the acting (especially Chris Sarandon as Jerry and Roddy McDowall as Peter Vincent), the music, even the special effects (which do look very 80s, but have a certain charm that CGI just does not have). Overall, the movie gets a 5 out of 5.The transfer. (NOTE: I did not buy the Nordic one that is for sale on Amazon, I bought a German one, so I don't know if the transfer is exactly the same)This I'm not so crazy about. OK, the sound is fine, but the picture looks REALLY grainy. It looks exactly like what it (most probably) is - a basic transfer from a DVD. It's very obvious that little to no care was taken with this movie. The transfer gets 2.5 out of 5Also, there are no special features on this disc, not even a commentary (which I have heard is pretty much the same as the DVD).Overall, I would say that this is still a worth addition to your collection (and if you haven't seen it, then watch it), but if you already have it on DVD, I wouldn't bother upgrading to the blu ray.UPDATE (Feb 1st 2015)Since writing this review, someone has told me that this movie has always been quite grainy, so in that respect, the blu ray transfer is very good. I did not know this because I never saw it at the cinema (due to not being alive when it came out), have never owned the movie on VHS or DVD, have only recently watched it for the first time and all the movies I've ever owned that came out in the '70s and '80s seem to have either had the grain removed, or were never grainy in the first place.Thanks for reading.

This is my favourite vampire movie along with 'The Lost Boys' and it was great to be able to get it on Bluray. I was amazed at the pristine quality of the video considering the age of this movie. The soundtrack is also pretty good. My only gripe was the lack of extras. I would have loved a director's feature commentary at the least. It's strange that a classic like this was robbed of that privilege. Apart from that, it is a great transfer and well worth adding to your disk collection.

One of my favourite vampire films, i have seen this film so many times and still enjoy it. Roddy McDowell is fantastic as Peter Vincent vampire killer. All round good cast and a great soundtrack too. Been waiting to get hold of this one blue ray for quite some time. It is just the film and wish there was a special edition version wtih lots of extras as it a classic. Will never get fed up of watching this. Just brilliant film.

this blu ray was well worth the money i paid about £15 and its region free a bargain. why people are selling fright night at £160 plus cant understand that.so i would recommend this blu ray to anyone who is looking for a fright night. briliant thanks for this.

Campy vampire horror comedy at its best.
