The new custom function means the YS-D2 can be compatible with cameras with non-standard pre-flash in DS-TTLII and manual modes. Review: Five Stars - The best what’s more to be said of course you pay a premium for it. Review: Two new YS D2J strobes failed - I purchased new Sea & Sea YS D2J strobes in Sept 2019 and again in April 2020 from authorized dealers. After two dive trips, the flash tube blew on one strobe and the other strobe periodically turned off during the dive while diving in Fiji, Oct 2022. No flooding, no moisture. The strobes were in pristine condition. I contacted the authorized repair shop and they said that they have seen problems with the D2J strobe when using Eneloop Pro batteries (white Eneloop are recommended, they said). I had been using Duracell rechargeable batteries, then switched to Eneloop Pro batteries and the the problems began. Sea & Sea refused to repair the strobes (warranty expired) even though the strobes were used very little and many other divers have experienced the same problems. Sea and Sea has since replaced the D2J strobe with a newer model.
