Revelations Mousse Chicken Wet Cat Food 4x57g (Pack of 6)

I have an elderly Persian cat with megacolon, which currently manifests as chronic, severe, intractable diarrhoea. Essentially, food moves through his system so fast his body doesn't have the time to absorb it, leaving him very thin and frail. However, he has a very healthy appetite and has an otherwise good quality of life. In other words, I know it's not his "time" yet and needed a solution for maintaining his weight and hydration.When I took him to the vets they weren't able to offer anything other than "recovery food" which I know he hates. I tried various fancy (and more expensive) "high calorie" and "natural" foods but they just didn't work. Persians have an usually short jaw, which can make it difficult for them to eat largely solid wet foods (ie with chunks), which made these other specialist options too difficult for him. He lives with 3 much younger cats, and though I would try to isolate him for his special individual feeds, the frequency with which he needs them makes this very impractical. I was getting ready to take him back to the vets to see if they had any other ideas, when I discovered Gourmet Revelations Mousse and decided to give it a try.Gourmet Revelations Mousse is (as the title suggests) a rich, meat-based mousse, topped with "cascading gravy"' ie a gelatinous, gravy-type liquid. Each portion comes in a little pot that can easily be turned out buy removing the foil, turning the pot over and squeezing the sides gently. A small pyramidal pillar of mousse plops onto the plate, topped with "cascading gravy", which runs down the sides. Being a mousse puts it somewhere in between solid and liquid, making it much easier for him to eat. Instead of chewing on single chunks for ages while the younger cats steal the rest of his food, he can sit and lick away at the pillar of mousse and gravy, eating as much or as little as he wants, leaving the rest for the others when he's finished.I'm not sure what the manufacturer had in mide when calling this product "Gourmet Revelations Mousse", but it really has been a total revelation for us. Yes, it's expensive, but the price varies quite considerably and it's often on offer; i save by having it on subscription. Yes, he's still thin (I don't think that's going to change) but nowhere near as much as he was. I can easily feed him whenever he asks for it (which can be up to 6-8 times per day) and not worry about the others stealing his food. He is a much happier boy: nowhere near as thin or lethargic, and much less prone to dehydration (since the food contains so much water). It is not an exaggeration to say this food is the number 1 thing keeping him alive, at a time when he is otherwise happy and healthy. Though it might be costing me 8-10 times more per month to feed just one cat out of four, it is well worth it.I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has a cat/cats who struggle to eat but need a high calorie diet and good hydration. It can provide all of that in a formula your cat won't just like, it will love it. My boy cannot get enough of the stuff, and when he's finished the 3 younger cats fight over the leftovers. I've been feeding him two flavours (chicken and fish) for months and he hasn't got bored, so it clearly tastes amazing.

Excellent service. The Gourmet Revelations arrived very quickly (as usual) from this supplier. The boxes were well packed and carried a long use by date. My old cat loves this food, hence that is all she will eat - so I always order quite a lot. The price is very competitive.

Ohh my cat loves this smooth PAYE flavour and texture, she never refuses to eat this, great packaging for ease of serving and the best part is watching her lick off the jelly layer first great quality thanks

Partly solves the problem if you have a cat that just licks the jelly or gravy off of other sachet foods. Taking this into account it isn't quite as expensive as it looks. Most of the time they like it...then they don't...but that's cats for you.

These gourmet cat food pots are small (think child's yoghurt sized) so in terms of longevity they do not last long. A single pot might satisfy a small cat for 1 meal but an average to large cat is going to need 2 or more; so only for special occasions.That said, the quality is extremely high (my cat eats better than I do...) and the contents are relatively easy to get out of the pot thanks to the indentation meaning a nice, clean result; just like on the packaging.For me they have been a god-send. My 17 year old baby has stomatitis and despite ongoing treatment I feared the worst as she continued to lose weight from being unable to eat. These mousses are the only cat food she will touch, and she is not a fussy eater.So in summary, a delicious treat under normal circumstances and a life-saving option under abnormal ones!
