It works as it should
The unit is neat, compact, made of metal and understated, all of which I like. The unit works well with the Yamaha app. and streams music effortlessly. Setting up was quite straightforward once I got my phone dialed in to it... and if I can do it, anyone can! The unit fires through a pair of Dali peco speakers and sounds consistently great whichever source I choose to play from. I had to buy a wifi extender, but in all fairness the router is at the front of the house and the unit is in the garage in the back garden some 35 meters away and there are several walls between - so not the fault of the unit. Once this was installed, the unit picked up the signal straight away; I entered the password and I was done! Internet radio, stream music from my PC, and play CD's. I don't use my phone for music so I cannot comment on that particular system. In all, I think this is a fine unit that opens the doors to 'the future' of how we receive and listen to our favorite sounds; and all this, without being too complicated for a 62 year old technophobe to understand. In my view, the system is a great buy. Cheers. Barry

Excellent value for money.
This is an excellent small system, which is fine sounding and has almost everything you could want. Elegant with lovely build quality. The musicast system is intuitive and works easily with other Musicast units or other suitable equipment to give multiroom facility. You can either stream music from all the many options on board or from any suitable server/laptop/phone or tablet. The only slight flaw I wasn't able to get it to randomly play back tracks from my music collection, only playlists. Would totally recommend. Having lived with this system for over a year now I can still endorse all the above. Except I have now added an audio server wirelessly and and it works so well. Access to the server's random play works flawlessly!

Great little system
I purchased the system to replace an old Sony micro system that had after many years started to play up when using CDโs I decided not to buy new speakers but to upgrade at a later date. From the box it was very easy to setup as long as you downloaded the MusicCast app. Everything can be controlled from your phone which is a good thing as the remote control is the weakest part of the system- itโs dated looking too busy with difficult to read functions. After an initial firmware update I tried out the different sources and had no difficulty with all the key sources apart from streaming from a server or laptop. Here is probably itโs next weakness - you do need to download the full manual for lots of the advanced functionality in particular around the use of Bluetooth. Iโve been very impressed with the sound so far from all sources including from my Audio Technica turntable. Itโs certainly a step up from my Sony system and my Panasonic system in terms of sound even through my old Sony speakers which are well burned in. Sound is also good via my Edifier Bluetooth speakers. So the good;- - Sound quality - Ease of use - The MusicCast app - Functionality - everything you need! Not so good - dated remote control - Streams everything but Amazon Music - you have to AirPlay. - please update - manual - could do with a full paper manual In summary very impressed - just a few minor niggles.

Great machine
Love this, easy to use and set up. Blue tooth to PC is so quick and has a good range. Really nice machine could do with a sub woofer but otherwise sound OK. My only comment is that when purchased from Amazon it was indicated that the speakers required Banana Plugs to plug into the speaker sockets. The one I received was fitted with screw terminal to hard wire the speakers to the player, thus the banana plugs ordered are not required. In addition the delivery was 24 early. Since purchasing the Musicast CRXN470D I have added a Yamaha FSW050 subwoofer and the difference is stunning with the base section now available which was completely missing from normal speakers. I repeat a great machine, compact and easy to use, with really good sound.

A great little system
A great system that does exactly what I wanted it to do, all my digital music sources played at fabulous quality, easy to set up, connected to the home WiFi easily too. I paired mine to a set of denon speakers but the sound was improved dramatically with a subwoofer, which I would heartily recommend as the sound with just speakers is good but lacking in bass. Overall I think the CRXN470d is great value for the money, when you consider you get dab+ too, Im glad I bought it.

Brilliant sound, brilliant functionality, great value.
I have now purchased two of these units. one for my office and one for my bedroom. This unit has a really powerful amp so far as giving a great sound range without having to crank the volume up. The CD mechanism is sturdy. Internet radio wireless/ethernet easy to set up. DAB reception (i use external ariel) brilliant. remote easy and with three buttons for pre-setting the favourites. The sound is brilliant, I feed a TV through one and it makes the world of difference. Do not buy cheap inferior alternatives. Yamaha have a solid piece of kit. Purchase with confidence.

Unreliable
I bought this system at the end of April, so it's almost 3 month old. In that time I've mainly listened to music through a portable hard drive plugged into the USB port, which I have found very convenient. The Pros: Sound is very good The ability to play music via a portable hard drive has been great, and was the main reason for buying. No more rummaging through cds, I just rummage through folders instead. The mobile phone app is really easy to use and extremely convenient. The Cons: The phone app regularly fails to work. Sometimes I go a day before the app connects to the stereo, sometimes it's just minutes. I seem to spend more time trying to connect than I do listening to music. The CD player recently had a spate of not recognising any discs. Fortunately I hardly ever play cds, but the fact that it has come up with a "No Disc" message after playing, at most 20 cds, is just not at all acceptable. I tried about 7 different cds, none of which were recognised, so at the time I assumed if was kaput. Tried again the following day and it decided to work again, for how long I have no idea. Having to plough through dozens of folders to find what I want to play is a pain. I've got about 3000 albums, so sorting them into individual folders is a must, but it would be nice to have the option to play more than one folder at a time. EDIT: Since posting this review the system has now stopped logging into the wi-fi, meaning no internet radio, and I experienced an issue this morning where there was no sound when playing mp3s via a usb drive. Switching off and on at the mains resolved this, but still no wi-fi. In short, this system is great on the rare occasions it works, but no a day goes past where there isn't some new or recurring problem, making it pretty much useless and incredibly annoying.
