When I ran my bum cheeks rubbed together, so much so that if I was going on a long run I’d have to ‘lube up’. I maintained that I was not a ‘real’ runner – I just liked to run so that I could eat cake." Anna was never anything like those ‘real’ runners on telly – all spindly limbs, tiny shorts and split times – but when she read about New Zealand’s 3,000-kilometre-long Te Araroa Trail, she began to wonder… perhaps being a ‘real’ runner was overrated. Maybe she could just run it anyway? Travelling alone through New Zealand’s backcountry for 148 days, she scrambled through forests, along ridge-lines, over mountain passes, along beaches and across swollen rivers. Running up to 52 kilometres in a day, she slept wild most nights, and was taken into the homes and hearts of the kiwi people in between. The Pants of Perspective is a witty, colourful and at times painfully raw account of a journey to the edge of what a woman believes herself to be capable of. It is a coming-of-age story which will lead you on a roller coaster ride through fear, vulnerability courage and failure. For anyone who has ever dreamt of taking on a great challenge, but felt too afraid to begin – this story is for you. ♥ The books in the 'Anna's Adventures' series can be read in any order ♥

Review: I love everything about this book! - Phenomenal book! This gave me everything I wanted it was inspiring, motivational, humble and full of adventure. I read this post surgery when I was not able to do too much, and feeling rotten. It was just the boost I needed. So much so I have went on to read llama drama which I have loved just as much!! I am now seeking out her other books! My favourite parts of this is the balance of determination and the honesty of struggling set amongst travel and adventure. For me it's been harder to find these kind of books by women. Reading this feels honest and very relatable.
Review: Inspiring and fun - read it twice - An inspiring and deeply honest account of the physical/mental challenges and the intense joys from Anna's Te Araroa run. When I finished the book I immediately read it again and enjoyed it even more the 2nd time. Bought another copy for my best friend's birthday because I want her to do the things she wants to do but believes she can't. Living life to the full is our own choice - it's not about proving ourselves to others it's wanting to grow from challenging ourselves. A very inspiring and fun book. Hopefully many more to come

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Something missing, but highly recommended.

I enjoy travel/adventure books, particularly about areas We have visited. A very enjoyable read, easy reading, informative, funny so why only four stars? I know it is being picky, but the book lacks s couple of areas to bring it to five stars for me, I could hazard a guess at their omission may have been too costly, and you can see what is missed via social media. In my very humble opinion the book lacked photos ( OK social media may be available if you use it and see them their ), likewise a few maps to see the trail as it was crisscrossing the islands, these would enhance the reading experience, but are available elsewhere. I would have liked to have read about the costings in an appendix, But, hey, just niggles in a very enjoyable book.
