Shiny Hardware SHL BRAND ISOPROPANOL IPA Isopropyl Alcohol 99.9% Pure (5 Litre)

This is the second time I have ordered this from this company and it has arrived very quickly and never leaked and always goes a long way to what I use it for. Extremely well priced for what I use it for and lasts ages. I have to say it is very strong straight out the bottle so when you open it ya might want to hold your breath a couple of seconds. I buy this to clean my face with and it lats me for ages. I also use it for scrapes and bruises and getting oils off my skin associated with cars, bikes and all sorts. I DILUTE IT with distilled water and then it ends up just like what I would get from the chemist but at a much , much cheaper price. I dilute it using a 500mill bottle and fill that up 1/3 the way with alcohol and the rest with water and it works a treat on my skin. I would suggest anyone with medical problems first consult a doctor , full stop. I have used this stuff for over 30 years on my skin but in it's diluted state and it works really well on drawing out bruises and sprains. I also use it for cleaning small parts of machinery as it gets off all sorts of yuck. I use that formula at full strength and a cotton swab and works a treat. GREAT BANG FOR THE POUND and seller is reliable. Will definitely be using this company again in about 6 months or depending on usage but this size bottle for what I use it for lasts ages.

A few words of caution before I write an evangelical reveiw on a product that my partner and I simply love: 1) The product, whilst leaving no residue or smell whatsoever, does evaporate fast. Quickly evaporating alcohol smells strongly and leaves you feeling light-headed if you breathe it in. So don't breathe it in and keep the windows open if you are using a lot of it to, for example, wipe down the whole kitchen. 2) It is extremely flammable so exercise common sense and caution when pouring it and subsequently storing it. 3) If you are using it for household jobs, don't use it neat. It isn't necessary to use it neat and doing so will lead to lots of alcohol fumes and acutely dried out skin on your fingers if you touch it. We dilute this alcohol at two or three parts water to one part alcohol and this mitigates the above problems and seemingly has no negative affect on the product's effectiveness. I pour around 150ml into a 500ml spray bottle and top up with cold water. We use the alcohol in this form for the following jobs: Cleaning counters, taps, work surfaces, bins, stainless steel furniture legs, greasy oven door and hob, sterilizing baby's high-chair and table, sterilizing wooden and plastic cutting boards, sterilizing wooden kitchen cooking utensils, cleaning windows (when used in conjunction with Karcher's window vac it's a killer combinantion for cleaing car and house glass), cleaning computer keyboards, light switches, china and metal lamps and anything else made of these materials, cleaning door handles and generally spraying down everything in the house that is touched when somebody is ill in the house, which does a great job of prevening colds etc. from spreading in the house. The diluted spray is also brilliant at knocking insects and wasps safely out of the air without spraying highly toxic and very stinky insect spray when, for example, sitting at the table for a meal. Very effective at this last job. It can also be used to knock mosquitoes off walls and ceilings whilst leaving no residue at all. When used diluted in this way you have a few years' worth of cleaner and insect spray in the five-litre container. We started off by buying the litre containers but now know that the five-litre will be used eventually and it is much cheaper. I will re-iterate that one should exercise the same caution as you would with any other surface cleaner and avoid skin contact as it does leave the fingers feeling very dried out, which presumably isn't very good for the skin. You could wear rubber gloves or do what we do, which is use a new bit of kitchen towel when the folded pieces of kitchen towel that you are using start to let the fluid through as you wipe the counters down. Seriously though, this stuff is brilliant!

Isopropanol alcohol (IPA) is an inexpensive cleaning solvent with a multitude of uses. Some are: • Cleaning kitchen surfaces, worktops and glass • Disinfecting light switches, mains sockets and door handles touched by the fingers of a lot of different people • As a solvent-thinner for acrylic paints (especially for use in an airbrush) • As a grease-remover prior to painting on e.g. metal or ceramic surfaces • For cleaning away the sticky dust which adheres to the lubricant oils in electronic gadgets with moving parts, like printers and old tape decks The fumes can be strong while the bottle lid is off but it quickly dries. Unlike bleach or household cleaners, with IPA there is no lasting smell. You don’t need much as an effective cleaning agent and a litre will normally last for months. This is a great product, and unlike branded household cleaners you’re not paying for the advertising budget in the purchase price. IPA is a commodity: there is no difference between brands so as long as the concentration is the same, you can buy the cheapest with confidence.

I love this stuff. A makeup artist recommended it to me for cleaning my makeup brushes as she said it sterilises them and then the alcohol completely evaporates so they are safe to use. She said there’s no better way to clean them than with this stuff, and it’s a fraction of the price of products that are marketed for that purpose. My husband has started using it to clean just about everything you can think of - door handles, keys, phone cases - it’s a great product to have around the house. You’ll find yourself sterilising lots of stuff!

It's a great product, excellent for cleaning and use with a steam mop if heavily diluted and usually such a large bottle would last me a long time but when it came the bottle was leaking .. it had cracked down the back of the bottle and the cardboard box was soaked in isopropyl... I'm going to order one more time in case it was just bad luck but it should really be packaged better than just a cardboard box and thrown into a van... I've had SHL brand isopropyl before though and was happy, 4 stars for the product and a star off for the bad delivery. . Will update when 2nd bottle comes.

This stuff is brilliant for cleaning! Unlike bleach it doesn't corrode metal so is great for killing the mould on our 1970's metal windows. It's safe to use on taps and stainless steel sinks and just about anywhere you want to degrease and disinfect. It's the same stuff used in hand hygiene gels and the little swabs applied to the skin before taking blood.....but at a 99.99% concentration. It evaporates quickly so the smell won't linger but like any organic solvent the room should be well ventilated during use. You can also use it on windows, for degreasing electrical/computer components...even inkjet printer heads. The 5 litre container is brilliant value and arrived promptly and very well packaged by courier. Keep in mind it is highly flammable so must be stored out of sunlight, preferably in a cool cupboard. I started off ordering by the 1 litre bottle but it's been so useful I've graduated to bigger quantities.

This stuff has a ton of uses around the home. I use it to clean glass, including camera lens filters, because it leaves no residue, eliminates dust and grease. I also use it to clean old photo negatives before scanning them to create digital copies. I use it to clean tape heads and guide paths on my cassette and open reel tape players. We also use it as a household sanitizer. Buying this large quantity makes so much more sense than buying small bottles. Safely and quickly delivered. Five stars.

I use this to rinse my resin prints after 3d printing. since COVID hit it has become more difficult to find 99.9% isopropynol, many companies diluting the product and inflating prices to scam money from those who are desperate. I am very glad that Shiney Hardware have decided not to be one of those companies and has sold quality products at fair prices, I will use them as my prefered supplier whenever I need more.
