is it a potato masher

There is a potato masher as well as the tri blade. It makes the best mashed potatoes I've had! Absolutely brilliant...

Has it got a variable speed wheel on the power handle?

It has a turbo button and a normal button if that helps. The normal button is powerful enough not had to use the turbo button yet.

In the technical details it says power 450 watt so is it 800 or 450 watt

It is definitely 800 watt power.I can't find any mention of 450 watt either on the box or operating leaflet. I'm very pleased with the way it mashes potatoes.
