Good quality lens
I bought this to replace my original Olympus lens. It is slightly lighter than the metal version but that suits me fine. The auto focus is quick and reliable and as I enjoy photographing historic buildings and inside cathedrals the image stabilisation feature works really well for me.

Good
I previously owned 14-42 pancake but unfortunately the omd em10 mkiv had to be replaced on warranty so returned the lens too. Overall its an average lens. No metal mount so bit flimsy. AF is sharp enough and weight is good since its all plastic. Its great for beginners. The second picture was taken on the lens, see the grains and blurry sections. Some lens flare evident.

Great standard lens!
Great little lens. Fitted to my Panasonic GX7 and very happy with the results. Sharpness and colours and build quality are better than the Panasonic kit lens. Price is also a big plus point. Delighted.

Excellent all in one lens
Excellent all in one lens. Olympus make excellent kit lenses and this is a great one for daily use. never leaves my camera body most of the time. Gives great results and has good reviews anyway on internet. Also this version has a bayonet mount on the front which can accomodate the FCON - P01 and WCON -PO1 fish eye and wide angle convertor lenses. I have both and they work great and are small and easy for the gadget bag. Yes its plastic but the lenses are good Olympus glass so don't be put off by the pixel snobs. For holiday shooting its far more use than a £500 fixed focal length prime lens believe me. Just a note as I also have the EZ version of this lens - pancake version. The EX version will NOT take the wide and fish eye convertors only this version. Mine is used on OMD EM5 MkII by the way but used it on OMD 10 also and again it spent a lot of time on the camera.

Great lens, great price
This arrived as promised, practically as new but significantly reduced in price. Bought it to go with an OM-D M5, it's a brilliant kit.

Great general purpose lens
I've been slowly moving over to MFT from a "full-size" Four Thirds setup and this was a first, cheap foray into MFT lenses to see if they were better than my old 4/3 glass with an adapter and worth further investment. In a word - yes.Bear in mind that this is the II R version of the lens, which I understand is an updated and faster focusing version of the original kit lens. It's proved to be a really useful general purpose lens. Focusing is very quiet and extremely rapid (faster than my 14-54 Mk2 on an E-3 - and that is fast). It's much, much faster than using an adapted 4/3 lens and that's on an E-M1 (which is meant to better deal better with legacy 4/3 lenses). It's very light and very compact - it uses a collapsible construction so that it closes up to the size you see in the Amazon product image. In use it isn't quite this small, but opening and closing it is quite natural and it's never cost me a shot.It covers a useful focal range (a bit longer would've been great...) and it fits the ethos of the MFT system perfectly - the best camera is the one you have with you when you need it and this lens just makes it that much easier to grab your kit and go.In terms of quality, it's not quite as good as the 14-54 (which is a "pro" series lens) in terms of quality - sharpness isn't quite there, but not far off. There don't appear any colour issues, no noticeable distortion and it is generally crisp and clear. Given the massive difference in price from the Pro lenses and the improved portability, it's pictures are surprisingly good. I do miss the speed at both ends of the range, but that's the trade-off for reduced price and size. The only real (and slightly unfair) issue I've had with it is that, being so small, the lens cap is pretty easy fumble, especially with gloves. It also has a small, irritating plastic ring that covers the bayonet for the lens hood (not included) which you can sometimes catch and unwind while manual focusing (standard Olympus fly-by-wire type). Again, easy to forgive given the size:performance ratio.Easy recommendation if, like me, you wanted a gentle, cheap step into more serious MFT lenses. I'll be upgrading but this is a no-brainer to keep in the kit-bag and for occasions where a more compact setup is useful. If this is how good the kit lenses are, imagine what the rest can do...

An updated lens, seems better than the original version
This is newer version of the lens than my previous one, which stopped focusing. It is the same focal length but seems slightly smaller and lighter. The way it compresses down to make it smaller when not in use seems a bit more robust than in the old version. Optical quality very good.

Leggero in poche parole ottimo

One Star
This lens does not auto focus well, it gets stucked and makes a noisy sound!
