Works on most sized food cans and even on cans with awkward ring pull lids - so no more spraying can contents when trying to remove stiff ring pull lids! Getting to Grips with your Safety Can Opener This Safety Can Opener attaches to the can slightly differently to regular can openers, so some customers might find it a little fiddly to begin with. Here are some trouble shooting tips to get you up and running as soon as possible. Testing the Gripping Mechanism 1) Open the Lever: Ensure the lever is in the open position. The big advantage is, once the lid comes off there are no sharp edges....not sure how that works, must be some kind of voodoo magic but I've tried rubbing the edge of the lid on my skin (please don't replicate, I'm a trained professional nutcase) and its as smooth as butter Highly recommend, go purchase one now and add it to your arsenal of kitchen equipment

**Q: Will it open a fray bentos pie tin**
A: Yes. The larger the tin the easier it works. Brilliant on tins of bwans etc However on narrower tins (like peas or small tins of soup) you need to keep turning it for ages. After the tin has rotated 6 or 7 times the lid finally detaches.

**Q: Is this opener easy to operate by a left handed person? Or can it be used in one direction only?**
A: My wife is left handed and her opinion is its the best and easiest can opener she has ever used.

**Q: Is it plastic or metal (the handle)? thanks**
A: Hard plastic, highly recommend this item. No more sharp edging on cans or lids. And easy to use too

**Q: Will it open oblong can**
A: I have only opened one oblong can (purely to answer your question) and that seemed to open fairly well though on this occasion the lid was not completely severed. It was easy enough to open the tin (without injury) and remove the contents. Most oblong cans I come across seem to have ring pulls anyway.

I go through can openers like Sunday dinners, been on the hunt for a robust one for some time so decided to take the plunge and cough up a bit more dough and invest in this model! Glad I did, this thing is the Ferrari of can openers. Superb build quality, you can tell straight out the box its gonna have a long shelf life! To be honest though, it is a bit fiddley to get going, you have to position the head at the correct angle, do a quarter back turn of the handle and then start turning. Sometimes it bites out the gate, sometimes can take a few attempts to get going, however, once you have momentum, its a breeze to open cans. The big advantage is, once the lid comes off there are no sharp edges....not sure how that works, must be some kind of voodoo magic but I've tried rubbing the edge of the lid on my skin (please don't replicate, I'm a trained professional nutcase) and its as smooth as butter Highly recommend, go purchase one now and add it to your arsenal of kitchen equipment
