great book
I bought this book about a month ago and I read it three times. Every time I read it I learn something new. His advice is simple to follow and his recipes are very tasty . I got all the ingredients for each week recipes which made cooking very easy. Some of the recipes only take a few minutes to make and you can double them and freeze for another time. I found that by eating 3 main meals and 2 snacks my blood sugar were stable and most of all I was not hungry. Infact I am eating a lot more food now but low GL and in 3 weeks I lost 4 lbs. I also bought a copy of his Low GL Cookbook which has lots of lovely recipes. My husband is also following his advice. Low GL is a very healthy way to eat. I would say his diet is the best one I ever followed for good health as well as to lose weight

The best diet I've ever done
I love this diet - it's healthy, easy and makes perfect sense. I've only done 2 1/2 weeks and I've lost half a stone without ever feeling hungry. The meals are quick to prepare and I love being able to have two snacks a day. Some of the recipes are really nice, some are ok and a couple are horrible, but I'm hoping that this will be an eating regime that I will make use of even when I've reached my target weight. It's definitely the best diet I've ever tried and the only one that seems completely logical to me. This book is definitely the best one to start the regime with. The cookbook can be bought later to increase your range of meals, but some of the meals in that are more complex to make, and these are all dead simple.

Better, shorter, simpler!
As a firm Holford believer I am always keen to get my hands on a new recipe book of his. This book reprises the original Holford Diet in a much more user friendly way. I would recommend it to anyone new to the diet as it has lots of tips on how to create your own meals, salads, sandwiches etc sticking to his low GL format. It has a few new recipes although if this is what you're after you are probably better off buying the Holford Cookbook. I needed a little inspiration and have started the menu plans suggested in the book. Wish me luck!!!

I will never again crave sugar ...!
I'm a fan of Patrick Holford, having read stuff on his website and followed some of his advice. My partner and I gave up smoking just over a year ago and as a consequence we have put on quite a bit of weight. Everything that Patrick says in the introduction makes total sense. We commenced the diet six days ago and I have lost 5lbs, my partner 6lbs. The menus are easy to follow, very very tasty, and surprisingly filling. There is the odd thing that we really don't like, for instance, porridge, so instead I have replaced this with his low GL Granola, fruit compote and yoghurt - Yum! This book has taught me a totally different way of looking at food - I will never again cook with veg or sunflower oil, knowing how good for you coconut oil is and how delicious. Lastly and by no means least - in the past, I have craved sugary things ... Chocolate, cakes, biscuits, you name it, I wanted it. Now I all I want is savoury things ... although there are sweet things in the diet (carrot & apple cake) and I do cook them. The only thing I would say is that you need to set time aside to prep all the food, but this is a really enjoyable part of the diet. Looking forward to getting to our target weights and continuing to eat in this way forever - no kidding - because we feel so fabulous and full of energy. Try it - you really won't regret it - I promise!

Low - GL diet made Easy.
Although this book is set out in a "logical" way, I have found it difficult to use. I dislike the fact that there is not a index of foods to look up, and I have to keep re-reading parts of the book.

simple little wonder
I already knew about GL, refined carbs, sugar loads, protein, the importance of exercise, etc. So the decision to buy this was really because I like the author from his previous books. But what I didnt expect in this book was the way Patrick Holford reached out to me as a reader. I felt like he was really trying to motivate me, educate me, to get me to see the light about food, and how it affects my health. His other books are also really well written, as I always feel he is on my side, my team. I have come to trust his research, and I think that plays an important role in readership. But this book resonated within me, on a much deeper level. Especially on page 57, those 4 little italicised words really sunk into my psyche. It really changed my attitude, the way I see my entire future of health and fitness. Even while I was walking today, I recalled those 4 words! I cant say enough for the personal influence this book has had on my outlook. Who would have guessed this simple book would have affected me so profoundly. But it did. Maybe thats because of a personal place I am at with my life, finally realising that I deserve to achieve my potential, but I think many of us are at that point too. Definitely recommend this book if you are at that place in your life.

Fantastic recipe book
I bought this book some ten years ago and did all the recipes for dieting. Lost some 7 Kg in a few months, kept the extra weight at bay for another six months but then in the following autumn gained some 15 Kg! So I would probably challenge the idea that the book is great for dieting. However: even if I donโt diet anymore and have absolutely renounced to do so (am losing weight now by other means), I still feel that this is a fantastic book and I continue to do most recipes in it on a regular basis. They taste so good, are balanced and are easy to make. My daughter bought a copy for herself and also regularly makes a few of her favourite dishes. Yes I canโt recommend it highly enough: delicious and yummy!

Yes, it's made easy, simple guideline, easy to follow.
Love this book. It's worked for me, lost 2.5 stone and have enjoyed every minute of it. I've simply followed his advice and cut out sugar. I also bought the Bible but found it hard work and not really necessary once I have this book which explains everything in simple terms. The only thing I don't agree with is the low fat options, I swapped mine for full fat. Found I have no cravings whatsoever, even had a sugar free Christmas. This is a new way of life for me and not a diet at all. Unlike every diet I've been on, and I've tried them all, this has changed my life.

Easy to follow GL Diet plan
This is a great easy to follow and start Low GL diet plan. I keep this to refer to as well--I have had two copies of this over the years. Some good recipes and great meal ideas--how to mix and match things and follow the GL guidelines. Highly recommend.

Don't buy for the Recipes
This book has some good information in it but don't buy it for the recipes. I didn't realize that the author is British and the recipes have a lot of ingredients that I'm completely unfamiliar with; I have to look them up to figure out what he's talking about! They may be good recipes but they appear to be a lot of work and not what I wanted.

Run of the mill diet
I purchased this book with such high expectations.the diet is covered so very briefly and nothing new and exciting in the book. Would recommend to skip this one
