Great soap! chopped it into little cubes, put it into a ziplock bag. soap for days! it suds up excellently, cleans your hands excellently, you can use it as hand soap, in the shower, and even in your hair! my brother likes to put it into bottles and turn it into a liquid soap. It's top tier.

This body soap is a total game-changer! I have been using it for years, and it is the only product that has truly helped me manage body acne, specifically the persistent acne on my back. I initially started using it to treat breakouts, and over time, with consistent use, it has completely cleared my skin. I use this soap as a second cleanser to help fade acne marks and control new spots. My first cleanser in the PM is Clinique's Cleansing Oil if I've been wearing makeup. In the morning, I use this soap on its own. It works really well. I use this in addition to my Paulas Choice toner, exfoliant, azealic acid treatment, serum and moisturiser. Initially my skin felt very sensitive after cleansing, but it has adjusted considerably to its use. The best advice I can offer is to use a toner afterwards. I mean the new age toners not an alcohol based astringent. The current toners are hydrating and balances your skin after cleansing. My acne marks are fading, new spots are drying out in a day or two and my overall skin texture has improved. One skin product is not a miracle worker, but this soap in addition to my Paulas Choice skin products have definitely given me visible results in 2 weeks. I like this, however from experience now I thought I would give you some advice on how to get the best out of it and more importantly not cause any negative effects on your skin!. I find the best way is to keep this block in its original wrapping and just cut off small blocks as and when you need them. The first time I used it did sting, that’s because I didn’t research it and ignored all the warning about slapping the bar straight onto your face. This contains bits and pieces of ash etc so you need to lather it up first. Take the small block you have cut and gently rub in onto your washcloth – do use a washcloth as I think this works best. Rub it gently against the cloth back and forth making sure no bits come off (if they do you can lather them up individually) – all those little bits of ash etc do themselves lather up if you are gentle enough with it. Lather it up gently and slowly – this will make sure all the bits and bar turn into the lather you need – you’re supposed to be washing with the lather not the hard bar, Once you have a smooth lather on the cloth, go ahead and wash with it – probably best not to leave it on your skin too long and it works for me in the shower as you can wash yourself and stand under the water straight away. It might sting the first time, that’s because your skin is not used to it and it might even sting the second time – stick with it. I personally like the smell as well, though as other people have said it can dry your skin so my advice would be to use this in conjunction with another natural soap, so wash with this then for an extra bit of clean hydration a quick going over with another soap as well, or just use some moisturiser but I don’t personally like moisturiser on the face. Also, I would advise against using it twice a day every day. Maybe 2-3 times a week as a treat in the morning or evening. At the moment I’m happy with it. **UPDATE** I have been using it for a few weeks now and it's fantastic - I had clear skin anyway but this is helping even more. It makes my skin feel utterly spotless and blemish free. I shave a lot and this seems to be helping with the razor bumps and it also seems to sooth the nicks as well. Also, I said in my original review that I would avoid using it twice a day, I take that back now, as I have been doing exactly that and it's absolutely fine. I'm still sticking with the combo of using this with another moisturising shower product (soap and salt scrub) but that's down to personal preference I guess. I'm a clean freak and this stuff fits perfectly. Just bought my 2nd batch. Also, I do like adding extra soaps and washes (all natural of course) and ordered another black soap from another company. This was not "raw" and was just a Shea Organic African Black Soap Bar with Shea Butter. It doesn't compare - once you've tried one against the other you can tell that THIS stuff is the real, authentic, natural deal and so much better than anything else. I wouldn't even bother buying anything else, this is the stuff you need (in my opinion). Not that it makes any difference, but I'm a man in his early to mid 30's. Thanks Sky Organics!

A well made soft soap that readily lathers so best not used in the shower under running water. The large block offers value for money when cut into three standard size bars of soap. Down sides for me are twofold: 1. my skin is ultra-sensitive to the sharp exfoliating bits so I do not apply the soap directly to my face 2. I find the unfamiliar scent lingers and I find this off putting so I have used soap free Seba Med to get rid of the unpleasant scent. For this reason, I am unable to comment on the effectiveness of the soap but my skin problems have NOT worsened since I began using OABS in March 2017.

This stuff is amazing! The picture is a week apart after using the soap only 5 times! (I am a bit annoyed that I took the before picture in unnatural lighting).. but you can still see the difference in just a few uses. I suffer from rosacea and this is the first thing that has ever helped, or made a difference, after years of trying. I also get a little bit of psoriasis, (usually under my eyebrows) and while it hasn't been bad lately, that has completely gone. The difference in the redness and the spots that come up on the rosacea patches, have reduced dramatically already and the skin feels so much smoother. I have a dry skin type, so I do moisturise after using this soap (I would always moisturise after washing my face anyway), but this actually isn't too drying for me anyway. This soap is incredible! It smells a little earthy, but it's not an unpleasant smell.. the scent is because it's all natural ingredients. I would recommend to follow their useage instructions.. and do not apply the bar direct to your skin. I use reusable bamboo and cotton face pads to apply the soap to my face (which work great with this product), as there may be tiny hard bits in the soap, so you can make sure you don't scratch yourself. The soap did tingle my face a little, but not in a bad way, on the first couple of uses.. and it drew out a few spots/impurities from my skin, which quickly cleared up. Overall this soap is the best thing I've ever done for my skin! 😁

I typically don’t review products on Amazon (because who has time for that) but this product is worth reviewing 100 times! As a black woman with sensitive combination skin, this product has been pure magic. I wash my face with this to remove my makeup and when I say it cleanses, it CLEANSES! There’s very little left to remove with an actual cleanser and my fellow women know that makeup removal can be a real pain where you have to do multiple steps. But the magic is not just that it cleans the skin properly, it’s also that it doesn’t dry out my skin. Consistent use has made my skin feel soft and supple like honeydew. And the glow!!y skin is shining bright like a diamond! A bar lasts forever. I have had to cut my bar into three and the three have lasted monthssss. This product is doing the Lord’s work!

I have been a regular customer; unfortunately the quality has gone down or has ceased altogether. I recently have had to bin this as well as the soap dish and sponge. With my last two purchases the product feels heavier on my skin like I am coating it with candle wax, my skin feels clogged and dirty even in the shower. It's been labourious washing it off my skin as it forms a cloggy grey residue. I am not sure about the oil to shea butter to other ingredients ratio, but the product is clogging my drain. The water never fully goes down. I go through drainage cleaner all the time. I reckon it's the coconut oil. On top of that, none of the products are actually organic or certified organic. I am beyond disappointed.

I have tried dozens and dozens of different soaps and moisturizers on my skin for the last 20 years(I have struggled with acne all my adult life) and I can honestly say this is the best soap I've ever come across. I can't believe how it has already made such a difference on my skin. My skin was looking good when I began taking lysine but then I tried a skin care line that my friend was selling and the products really made me break out. My skin was bad. I found this online and thought I'd give it a try. I'm so glad I did. My skin began clearing up immediately. It does have a bit of a drying feeling but I just use coconut oil or jojoba oil afterwards and my skin is glowy. I have also given my two teenage boys the soap and they love it too. I love that it comes in such a huge chunk so that I can use it however I want. I cut off a smaller bar for myself and lather up in my hands. For my boys I put some soap and water in a dropper bottle and they squirt some into their hands. It works great and I don't have to worry about them making a mess. The large chunk of soap will last us quite a while too. This is one of my favorite purchases and it is an amazing price. You can't go wrong. Sidenote: If you suffer from acne you might want to try taking a lysine supplement. It has worked wonders for my boys and myself. My skin was amazing after just two weeks but got bad after I tried my friend's skin care line. The combination of lysine and this soap is magical for me.

I don't know what drew me to try this, but I'm glad the force pulled me into this direction, I didn't know I needed it until I read the reviews. I've struggled with back acne, kp, and eczema my while life. After reading the reviews and great results I decided to give it a shot. I noticed a difference after the first use just in my skin texture. Now that it's been a couple weeks I've noticed my kp isn't as bad my breakouts have decreased and again my skin texture has improved significantly. I'm an Estheician so I was a little weary of it being to harsh or drying but when paired with a good moisturizer it's perfect. Side note... I only use this on my body, not my face unless I am wearing a lot of makeup, I will use as a precleanse. I like that the ingredient list is simple and organic. No extra fillers like other well known brands. I would recommend getting a soap dish that is covered asap. It will break down in the shower if it gets too wet. It took me a few days to get a covered dish so I left it in the back of the shower and not only did it start to break down and get every where but also broke down the caulking on our tub. You'll use this on a wash cloth, loofa, or in your hands but not directly on the skin. You'll feel squeaky clean after which is an indication that you need to moisturize. Im looking forward to how the continued use of this product will effect my skin. I wish I would have tried it years ago.

I dry my bar off after each use and wrap it in plastic wrap or place it in a plastic bag.. My soap arrived wrapped in plastic wrap in the Sky Organics paper bag, just as pictured. This is important too because it indicates that Sky Organics understands that what they;re offering is the authentic product and understands how to package it to maintain its potency and authenticity. So you can purchase with confidence. So now that you know what it is, Why Use it? It is the gold standard if you have problem skin, but even if you don't, the West has finally realized what Africans have known for centuries: Shea Butter is excellent for skin. Remember the perfect skin you had as a child! But I want to caution you. If you are looking for perfumed, pretty soap you can display on your counter in your bathroom, this aint it. It smells like unrefined Cocoa/coconut, an earthy, oaty smell, so if you're not put off by that or that's not important to you, this is your soap. If you're looking for a soap that will cleanse, moisturize, and exfoliate, all in one, and won't aggravate your problem skin, acne, eczema, write your problem in here, then this is the soap for you! I've used African Black Soap for years on my acne prone, sensitive skin and I can honestly say for me it was a turning point in changing my skin for the better. I wouldn't be without it now and this product is the best example of truly authentic African Black Soap without travelling to West Africa and importing it yourself. So if you have problem skin, try it, if you are looking for a natural way to moisturize, cleanse, and exfoliate, try it. I do also want to share another revelation with you that changed my skin for the better. Using African Black Soap, I wash my face once a day. I choose at night, just before I go to bed, because African Black Soap is an excellent makeup remover, and for me it takes my Bare Minerals off better than anything else. Leveraging the natural exfoliating and moisturizing properties of the soap, I don't need to wash my face more than once a day. I found in using it this way, my skin was less oily, which, ended the breakouts, and with less breakouts, I had less scarring, and the old scars, faded and diminished over time, and my pores were visibly smaller. All of these things were attributes of using this soap and not washing my face as much. What I learned from it is this. Your skin has natural oils and moisturizing properties in it. By washing your face morning and night, and with products laden with all kinds of additives you can't even pronounce, you are actually stripping your skin of its natural oils, which causes your skin to then over produce the oils to compensate. So your skin becomes an oil slick, your pores become clogged, and you get pimples, and you begin the process all over again, because you wash your face more etc thinking you are helping yourself, but you're not. So if you're stuck in this cycle like I was for years before trying African Black Soap, give this a try, by Sky Organics. It's authentic, sourced from Africa, pure good stuff.
