Excellent first treble recorder
This is a very good first instrument for anyone wanting to learn treble recorder. It is not difficult to play, is in tune and has a pleasant sound. It is also a good price. If, like me, you decide later to upgrade to a more expensive treble you will still need this as a second instrument, as wooden recorders have to be 'played in' gradually and must initially only be used for a short period each day. I have very small, slightly arthritic hands and find the stretch to the bottom hole on the Aulos difficult, but achievable. The instrument is easy to hold as it is very light and comes provided with an optional thumb rest. Unlike wooden recorders, this instrument is easy to care for and is extremely robust. It seems to clog quite quickly, but this probably applies to all plastic recorders. It is worth warming it next to your body before playing to reduce condensation.

A nice recorder
I bought this Aulos recorder as it seemed to have good reviews. It certainly is a nice piece of kit and has a very nice tone - when I'm not causing it to squeak !!! I certainly find it a lot harder to play than a descant - the holes are a lot bigger, so it's easy not to completely cover one and thus cause it to squeak - which it seems more than willing to do so! I was surprised at how much bigger it is than a descant, this also means that the holes are a lot further apart, which is another reason for it being more difficult than a descant - particularly if one has played a descant a lot. The hole layout is exactly the same as a descant, but for some reason (that escapes me) the same fingering on a treble is written as a completely different note on sheet music. I'm certainly not prepared to learn entirely different fingering to that of a descant - the notes of a descant are too ingrained in my mind !! Thus I have transcribed the music I need to play into the same fingering as a descant. It's very simple. Purely out of interest, I'm actually a drummer in a rock band and we are currently learning Stairway to Heaven - the recorders are used for the intro. I'll let you know how I get on :-) Oh, one last thing, when put together the recorder is in perfect tune with the rest of the band. Phew - that saves a lot of hassle!

Sounds brilliant and very affordable
Purchased the Aulos to learn to play the recorder to a bit more of an advanced level than just "Twinkle, twinkle little star" etc. and really happy with the recorder overall. Excellent sound quality, the notes are clear and in tune (if you remember the finger positions correctly!). There are cheaper recorders and also more expensive recorders out there but for the price you really can't go wrong with the Aulos, it's perfect until you're ready to take the next step with your playing a fork out a bit more cash!

Having played the descant recorder for a long time, I thought that it would sound different on this treble recorder. It's good quality and is easy to clean.

Beautiful budget alto recorder
Aulos always produce lovely instruments, value but not cheap. I'm a beginner but this recorder has been the easiest for me to transition from an Aulos saprano recorder. Highly recommended

Weather you're playing hot crossed buns or flight of the bumble bee, this is an excellent recorder for a practicing beginner. Until this arrived yesterday, I hadn't played recorder since primary school orchestra, now I'm loving it. The fact that it's made of plastic means it's won't swell in different weather conditions, and I don't have to be afraid of the shape warping or sending when I'm carrying it around. It's in tune as well (I bought an ovarian online once which I had to abandon immediately as it was a semi tone off, AWFUL!). It comes with a leather case and a fingering chart (to show you where your hands go on the recorder). If you're worried it will sound like a school music lesson, it won't, it has a lower pitch for a start and your hands have grown since then to cover the holes properly and avoid squeaking, however shoukdnyou choose not to cover the holes properly, it can also double as an effective tortue device to housemates, relatives and partners :)

Its fine for a starting recorder but the intonation is way ...
Its fine for a starting recorder but the intonation is way out, this goes for the soprano edition as well. I realised this when I began recording with them. I would suggest putting in the extra money and getting a recorder that is in tune.

I'm NOT a professional recorder player, nor virtuoso, but am fairly competent on the instrument. I prefer playing on this, to using my C descant as it has imho, a rather pleasing tone for a plastic instrument. Okay, it can't compete with an expensive wooden recorder (as used by the pros) but for learning on and playing for pleasure, the instrument is well capable of producing mellifluous higher tones and deeper, more resonant sounds. I recommend this.

5 étoiles car à ce prix et pour du plastique c'est vraiment excellent. On sort de bons aigus , le do grave un peu difficile à sortir clairement (piano voir pianissimo si on veut éviter que ça dérail) mais franchement impeccable.

I have quite a few Plastic Resin recorders, All of Yamaha Resin recorders Sopranino to Bass and every one in between Same with Aulos Everyone they make in all sizes, From Sopranino to Bass a few of each size, I have a Zen-On G1-A-440 Bressan alto, The Aulos A209 Robin, Should Not be Under estimated, as it ia very Good Sounding Quality instrument, that has Great Potential for very good sound, and can be Pushed to show very good expressive sounds, Lots of overtone potential. Really Love this Alto, for it ease of use and Playability. Cannot believe the Value for this instrument. It is equal to my Yamaha 312, 314, and my Aulos 500 symphony series, it is a great player, with Great Sound to match. I am Happy to have it to add to my collection.

I have been waiting for a while, since this beauty came from UK and I am in CA. The sound is ridiculously beautiful rich and warm! You should know this is quite a change for those coming from Soprano recorders: heavier, take sin more air, big stretch for the fingers and a rather different arm stance. My hands are small (8 octave reach on piano), so it will take me some adjusting I am sure. It came already properly greased as well, because putting it together was buttery. I know we should warm it up first before playing to avoid clogging it, but right away I could hit a nice treble F. The more we raise the notes, the easier the recorder speaks, of course. Super round sound, warm. Really good considering it is plastic. Of course this is not a 10$ instrument... The recorder comes with all you need in a small zippered case, 3 pieces pulled apart and the body of the recorder has both its edges protected with a plastic cover, which is a nice attention to prevent any damaging there, since it is thinner than the rest of the body. the kit comes with cleaning rod and synthetic grease as well as a thumb rest. I am very pleased as the instrument is very well made, no physical defects, the warm sound of an alto finally there for me!
