Retrospec Apollo Detachable Front Bike Basket Steel Half-Mesh with Integrated Detachable Hooks and Built-In Handle, Easy Assembly and Portability for Bicycles

I really liked the basket. I liked the way it was easy to install and the size of the basket, and how easy it is to remove it from its carrier. But I discovered that my bike's geometry did not work well with this basket. The handlebar stem on my bike is too short and it made the basket. Stick out at a strange angle. That made it feel heavier than it was. I have some other bikes and it would have worked fine on them if they needed a basket, but they didn't. I don't know how you figure out if your bike has the right geometry but if your handlebar stem is fairly long and angles out over your front wheel, it will probably be great for your bike. If you have a short stem that does not angle out, it puts the basket at an odd angle and makes it have weighting issues. I was trying to put it on my ebike. You can see from the photos that the light is in the way, but that could be moved down to right above the tires. That was really not an issue. If you look at the picture with the blue arrows, you can see one arrow is straight-up-and-down. The other arrow is the angle of the basket, which is really quite tipped on my bike. On my husband's bike the handlebars angle out in such a way that it would have been fine for his bike, but he doesn't want a basket.

This basket is great! It is firmly secured to the bike, but it pops right off when you pick up the handles, so you can use it as a reusable shopping basket! 5 stars UPDATE: I've been using the basket for about 2 months now, and while I'm still happy with it, a few things have popped up 1) I have 2 different bikes, and the handlebar mount doesn't fit as well on one bike, which puts it in danger of popping off the handlebars unless it's loaded. Be aware, and keep at least a small load in the basket! 2) As another review noted, it's easy to have the end caps pop off the handles (it's happened twice to me). This makes the basket unsafe, but it's easy to fix. Just buy screw end caps of the right size at your local Home Depot or other hardware store.

Great basket for a bike! So easy to attach, and love the function of removing it to use as a picnic basket. It’s big but also the right size. Looks cute!

I love this basket and use it almost every day. It is very easy to use and install, and it is a great size and shape. It fits well onto my bike, and the basket is super easy to take on and off of the mount. It’s really handy when grabbing a few groceries or for carrying your lunch or a jacket. I saw some people saying they had issues with the basket falling off of the mount when going over large bumps. I also had this issue, but I was able to resolve it by placing bungee cords in an X across the top to both secure the handles to the basket and prevent items in the basket from bouncing out. I do have two issues with the basket. First, the basket broke in two paces after only two weeks of use when I went over a sudden bump in the road. The two parts that broke were both on the mount. One part is a piece of fabric with Velcro which secures the mount to the bike frame, and the seam on the fabric completely tore when I went over the bump; I was able to fix this easily using zip ties. The other part is a metal support bar on the mount which became disconnected at the join (this can be seen in the attached image). I have not yet figured out a way to fix this, so when I use the basket now I have to hold the basket with my left hand to make sure it doesn’t wobble all over the place. After the mount broke I weighed the basket and it’s contents to see if it was over the advertised 15 pound weight limit, but all together everything weighed 13.5 pounds. I wouldn’t recommend putting more than 10 pounds in the basket if you want to be on the safe side. My other issue with the basket is simply that when full, it blocks the lower beam of light from my headlight, making it harder for me to see at night, and the design of the basket doesn’t let me attach my headlight to the front of the basket.

The Reason for Selection: I am converting my old 1990s mountian bike to a errand runner The Good: The basket and hardware are of good quality The Bad: Nothing bad. The Ugly: The design of the mounting hardware is flawed General observations: The basket dimentions is what is indicated on the listing. It is big enough for a moderatly full bag of groceries. Either the installation instructions need to be better or the design needs to be a lot better for the quick mounting hardware. As soon as I put in 10 pounds of cargo, the stabaliser arm collapsed. It didn't dump the contents but the bottom of the basket made contact with the head stem tube. The velcro securing strap also came and lost it's mounting place on the stem tube. In order to fix, I used some tie wraps to give the mounting hardware the support it needed to not buckle under the weight of cargo. For the price point, it is an ok solution for a small handelbar basket. I would prefer to have more secure hardware on the bike mounted quick release portion. There is a chance that there is a better way to install the hardware, but the installation instructions did not really address much in terms of specifics. I won't send it back for a refund, but I would also not purchase again. Value for Price: From my perspective and experience, the price of $26.99 is Fair. This basket is brilliant and looks great on my bike! It is very well made and sturdy. The ‘shopping basket’ is easily detached for easy usage for use in a store, it fixes back on the bike quickly and securely. Shipping and delivery was quick and efficient.

Muy útil y práctica. Agrega una red elástica y puedes cargar aún más. El mecanismo de seguro que funciona automáticamente al levantar o bajar las asas hace que colocar o retirar la canastilla sea rápido e intuitivo. Si te gustaría tener una canastilla en tu bici para ir a la tienda, pero no quieres colocar una fija en tu bici, está es un secreto opción excelente. Mi único coméntario negativo es que llegó mal ensamblada, con los seguros de las asas del lado opuesto de los orificios de enganche el soporte. A mí me tomó 30 segundos arreglar esa situación pero es algo que no debería haber ocurrido.

Unfortunately my basket arrived with damaged mesh to its front left side. I was able to hammer it back into place but there is a big split line. It can be seen in one of the photos. Apart from the damage, it’s a really great little basket with what I think is a fantastic design. The frame is permanently attached to the handle bars and the basket can be attached and removed very easily. The basket sits on two bottom slots on the frame while the top is locked in place with the carry handles. It’s really a very clever and secure design. So far so good. I like the padded handlebar hooks and the frame also keeps the basket from rubbing too much on cables or the bike itself. I’d originally ordered the moss green but it was taking months and months to be processed so I cancelled that and went with this available grey one. The colour doesn’t go as well with my bike but it’s functional. Warning: don’t forget to hold the basket handles when removing the basket as it will flop over and empty all its contents onto the ground. Unfortunately this also damaged the bottom mesh the first time this happened. See photo. If there wasn’t damage when I received the basket, I would have given five stars. The damage was obviously done before shipping as the packaging was very secure.
