How long does it ring

It rings indefinitely until it is physically turned off. I woke up earlier than the time it was set once, forgot about it went to work just to find out that it was on all day annoying other people in the house.

Does the alarm work on just battery power, i.e. when not plugged in to the mains? Assuming battery is charged obviously......

The battery is there just to maintain the time in case of a power failure but the alarm only works when it is plugged in.

What does alarm 1 do and what does alarm 2 do? And why would you want both on. How do you just set the d... alarm?

You can set alarm 1 and alarm 2 to whatever you want, each one saves only a particular time, e.g. you can set alarm 1 to 08:00, and alarm 2 to 06:00. Most of the time you will want for only one to be active at a time, e.g. from Monday until Friday you leave alarm 1 on, but on Saturday, you turn on alarm 2. It just means you won't have to change the current alarm time and instead just flick a switch to use a second saved alarm time. It's then just another flick of a switch to use alarm 1 again. You can technically have both on at the same time, meaning the alarm would go off at 6am and then again at 8am, using the example above.

why does the description here say 85db?but the internet and manufacturer says 113db?

Manufacturer says 113dB for this model, and since they perform the tests and have a reputation to protect, I would be inclined to believe them. Another piece of information worth noting is that the Camo version "Bunker Buster" boasts a 12V shaker - the black and red also has a 12V shaker. Looks like £20 for the Camo paint job.
