The best of the best!
Dr. Keller's slim volume, "The Best of Jail Medicine," represents a concise, cogent distillation of his practical wisdom and experience gained through a career in medicine, provided over decades in jails and before that in emergency departments. For health care professionals of all disciplines -- not just physicians and not just medical staff but also behavioral health professionals -- this is the book with which to start if you are interested in correctional health and how it is delivered behind bars. Dr. Keller has done us all a huge favor in sharing his pragmatic strategies for keeping healthcare real, ethical, and effective as it is delivered to some of the most disadvantaged and under-served members of our community. A "must read"!

Great read!
I found The Best of Jail Medicine to be very eye opening and informational. Having no medical background I was not sure if this book would be something I would enjoy, or even understand. But it was very easy to follow along, understand, and become hooked. It is a quick and easy read that I think anyone in or outside of the medical, jails, or prisons should consider adding to your list of “must reads”. Gives a huge appreciate for the medical providers within jails and prisons as well as all providers in general. 10/10 recommend this book!

Must Read!
Excellent book! As a past correctional healthcare professional, I found the book to be an accurate description of correctional medicine. All people working in any facet of corrections should find it very informative and useful. I also think families of individuals working in corrections would benefit from reading it. I believe the same is true for anyone not involved in corrections. I think they would learn a great deal and find it very interesting. Well done!

Practical and insightful!
What a great book! Dr. Keller’s relatable communication style along with his wit and humor make the book extremely easy to read! Dr. Keller’s knowledge, combined with his extensive experience in correctional medicine is delivered with evidence and interesting examples. It’s practical, yet his insight and perspective is invaluable. I like how he highlights specific situations that are unique to corrections in a way that also ties them to hospitals, clinics, and even other disciplines in the medical field.

Practical and comprehensive
Excellent summary and insight into providing care within the correctional system. He was spot on in terms of his approach to opioid, benzodiazepine and alcohol withdrawals and the limitations of current subjective scoring systems including the dangers in each. Keep up the great work Jeff!
