Rolled this paint on the majority of the wood stove, after sanding down and taking time to prep. Didn’t appear to cover all that well after 2 coats, but after it burned off a few times it looks fantastic and not peeling, nor coming off after one season being used quite often. Very happy with this paint. Very watery too

Excellent coverage. Dries to a flat black. I removed the rust with sandpaper as recommended, then painted, and now my woodstove looks brand new. It was smelly for about 6 hours until it was completely dry, so plan to open windows when applying.

Went on well with just one coat. It was a bit thinner than paint but surprised at how well it covered. It does smell but small price to pay. This little can painted my whole fireplace inside.

Although a thick product (much thicker than paint) it goes on well - and without much effort, considering I was using it to cover over very old porous brick. I had read that others had used it to cover over fireplace brick, so I had hopes this would do the job. That is does! Although I used those throw away foam brushes - they did deteriorate; but I only needed two to complete the job. The 16 oz container was just enough to do one coat, although it probably would have looked better with two coats. And although I read other reviewers stating the importance of ventilation, and I did take heed to ventilate the area - I also can't stress enough how important this is. The project was done on a very comfortable day - so I was able to open several doors and windows - as well as the flue, which has a natural draft. I left the windows open all night and only shut the doors late into the evening. I also turned on the overhead fan in the living room where the fireplace is. The fumes that night made their way into my upstairs bedroom and made it impossible to sleep; turning on a whole house exhaust fan had no effect. Finally, by early morning - shutting key doors - it subsided. This lasted for about 3 days. I could not even store the almost empty closed container anywhere close to the house. Yes, the product does a great job, but just be aware of the warnings on the label if you plan to do an indoor project.

I rarely leave a review because most things I know what I’m buying and too lazy to do so. I researched various options to paint the inside brick in my fireplace. Note my fireplace has issues and I don’t burn in it …so this was for aesthetics but I also wanted functionality if the issues were resolved. The 1200 material is watery like cheap wall paint but I wanted that as I have many cracks/ porosity challenges. It went on and covered in one coat. I used about 1/2 of the small pint can and used a cheap 2 inch brush. Not a foam brush. It looks great after 1 coat. Like the flat black finish. I might go over a few areas that I missed but they are so minor I would not have to. But honestly I’m super impressed with the single coat coverage. It does have a strong smell so open the window. I knew that from the other reviews but knowing this was a one time thing it was fine. It’s like cleaning the oven. Yup it stinks but how often do you do that job.

I have an existing old masonry wood burning fireplace, I remodeled the house, and removed the chimney up through the roof. I left the masonry chimney/smoke shelf in tact. I properly sealed off the top side of the fireplace with fire rated products/cement board. After a thorough cleaning of masonry, I bought 3m fire penetration caulking at the box store, then repaired any failing mortar in joints. After 72 hrs [3M advice] I painted all masonry/joints with this paint. I installed a natural gas line and installed a ventless gas log set. Works/looks great. HOWEVER -- OPEN WINDOWS of your home, turn on exhaust fans if you have them that vent to the outside. This paint has a VERY strong odor. This isn't latex kids. It dries to a flat finish. I used the 'disposable brushes' from the box store. There was some odor on first couple of times I turned on log set. Both the paint/log set fumes, which is normal. This paint also stuck to the flexible gas line to hide its yellow color. I would recommend this paint and buy again if I need to. The one can painted entirely with 1 coat with some left over. This is a 16oz can.[so yes, that is half of a typical quart can, pricey, but....] My firebox is 34" wide x 22.5" high x 22" deep for a size idea. The masonry absorbed the paint, but covered in 1 coat. Don't spill on any area you don't want painted, it's not wiping off masonry.

Used this to paint polished brass plated fireplace insert. Because of placement and design of my insert, I couldn’t use spray paint. I first painted it without sanding and second coat of paint completely whiped away the first coat. I then sanded everything off including the varnish finish and tried again. The paint stayed on better but was still tricky to get complete coverage. After three coats it was ok. No streaks or brush marks when it dried. Used the fireplace a few weeks after paint job and there was no odor, but there was a very strong odor when I painted. Make sure you can open a window nearby. At this point I can’t determine if the paint will hold up long term, but so far so good.

I used this to paint the inside of our brick fireplace and it worked great. I was skeptical when first received the can of paint as it is small and was wondering if it would be enough to coat the fireplace. Found it goes a long way and I was even able to get two coats on the inside of the fireplace including the floor and our fireplace is 43" wide at widest point. I purchased a 3" disposable paint brush from H.D. and then cut the bottom off of a 1 gallon plastic water jug and used this as my paint tray. The paint can in is too narrow to dip the 3" brush in. This paint has a an odor (not overbearing) until it dries so I aimed a portable fan on the fireplace and left the house for most of the day. The results look great and the paint did a great job of coating the bricks as there is no see-thru of the bricks. You will need to clean the bricks before painting and I used a TSP solution of 1/2 cup in two gallons of warm water with a wide grout/tile sponge purchased at H. D.
