MDR-ZX110NC Overhead Noise Cancelling Headphones - Black

I bought these headphones after reading the reviews. They were really good on and 11 hr flight cancelling out some of the engine and passenger noise and allowing me to listen to the in-flight movies and music. They do not cancel out all of the noise but do take the edge off the engine and ambient noise and the sound delivery is good. It was a toss up for me between these and the cheaper Sony headphones without the noise cancelling and I’m pleased I chose these ones. They were comfortable to wear constantly for 11 hrs and the noice cancelling worked well with the movie or music playing. The build quality is good and they good flat for packing. The wire is quite short and flimsy - ideal for flying but maybe not as good for daily or gym use. Overall I was pleased with my purchase and they were ideal for blocking out the aircraft noise of people and engines for a reasonable price.

These are compact folding headphones which don't take up too much room in your bag, and won't feel too heavy when you are wearing them either. They are powered by one AAA battery which lasts a long time; Sony claims 80 hours, so more than enough for the longest of long-haul flights, and if you are worried a spare battery won't take up a lot of space either. The build quality of a bit flimsy although they have survived being in my carry-on bag for a recent flight in just a soft pouch. The overhead band is plastic, so this is probably the most vulnerable part of the structure. You do get a battery in the package to start you off which is good, as well as an adapter to use on an aircraft. The noise-cancelling works well in the cabin of a passenger jet. This sort of technology works best with a fairly constant background drone such as that produced by jet engines; it doesn't cut out all of it, but it does cut out enough of the noise that you can listen to a film or music at a reasonable volume. You can still hear people talking though because this sort of sound is more intermittent and varied. I found these headphones comfortable to use and for the price, a real bargain. As long as you are aware of what their limitations are, then you will not be disappointed in these I think.

I bought these specifically for a noisy office environment. In my opinion, they perform very admirably given their price point. While they don't eliminate *all* ambient noise, as soon as they are turned on they greatly reduce noise occupying the crucial parts of the frequency spectrum needed by music. When music is playing, it is difficult to hear anything else ~ even soft piano music can be enjoyed without significant disturbance. So I would say the *active* noise cancellation here is impressive - certainly no gimmick. As for sound quality, music is clear and detailed. You are not going to be blown away, but you are going to be able to enjoy your favourite music in reasonable quality on the move, with decent treble and bass response. Again, I think they're as good as you could expect for portable cans at this price. Now, some downsides you might like to consider. As far as I can tell, in addition to the noise cancellation the battery also provides extra power to the drivers. That is to say, switching them on is essential - without being switched on, they sound no better than the most budget of headphones on the market (muddy and muffled), and their *passive* noise cancellation isn't up to much either, as you would expect from small portable cans. Fortunately the battery does not need replacing often. They are also not the most comfortable headphones in the world, although they aren't terrible in this regard. They must be situated on your ears just right in order for the noise cancellation to work to its best. Don't expect miracles from these, but do expect some quality cans with good sound and portability on a budget.

Great sound and noise cancellation. Unfortunately, didn't even make it through a month (purchased on 1st July 2022) without quality control issue from the flimsy plastic that protects the wires. They still work, but as you can see, the plastic that protects the wires has detached and slid down from the nub, exposing the wires. Headphones have never been dropped, knocked and the wire has never been yanked. On close inspection, it looks like the wire cover has been squeezed into the nub rather than glued, molded in. This is a case of getting what you pay for which is a shame, because the actual sound output is excellent.

Sound quality good. Bought to use on flights. Didn't want anything expensive as I won't be using regularly. For the price I'm incredibly impressed. The sound quality is great even without the battery in. Great price. Comfortable to wear, but only had them on a few minutes to try them as yet

Great headphones that function really well.

Amazingly good for the money. I've lusted after some Bose headphones for years. I've had a set of Blaupunkt noise cancelling head phones which sadly got damaged. These Sony headphones were cheaper than the Blaupunkt which are no longer available, and something like 20% of the cost of Bose headphones. The noise cancelling works really well. To satisfy myself I played aircraft cabin noise from YouTube, which is what they do in the Bose shop. It really cuts it down, which means you get better clarity of your audio feed, and you can listen to that at a lower volume. I tend to listen to books and podcasts, so getting rid of background noise is important. The noise cancelling also helps if you want to use them whilst someone else watches the TV. Comfort-wise, their OK - being on ear type, I find I need to get them just in the right place to be comfortable. They're not too heavy either, only one AAA battery is required for the noise cancelling. At this price point, there's no point buying ones without noise cancelling.

Molto bene, un suono chiaro con bassi equalizzato bene anche a basso volume senza nesessita di alzare il volume. Avevo delle Sony con le quali mi trovavo bene, poi sono passato a delle JBL di prezzo superiore ma per sentire bene l'equalizzazione e la curva dei bassi bisognava alzare molto il volume, sono tornato a Sony con queste e sono eccellenti. Bisogna però tenere attivo il noise reduction.

Update & Szenarien neu am ende der Beschreibung! Ich habe bisher viel über die NCS (Noice canceling systems, es gibt noch viele andere Bezeichnungen wie NRS) gelesen, auch wie die Technik grundsätzlich funktioniert. Auf einem langen Flug nach und von Asien habe ich mich sehr über mein Handy geärgert: Es war schlicht zu leise um mit meinen mitgebrachten Kopfhörern im Flugzeug die Filme auf dem Handy anzusehen. Doch auch mein Laptop schafte es nicht diese laut genug anzusteuern. So entschloss ich mich zu Hause mir solche Kopfhörer zu zu legen. Es wurden die Sony MDR ZX. Bei dem Preis von 50 Euro kann man nicht viel falsch machen dachte ich mir und bestellte voller Zuversicht gleich 2, auch für meine Frau. Der Erste Versuch fand im ganz normalem Linienbus statt. Und: Wow trifft es nur unzureichend! Aus: normaler lauter Bus, viel rauschen und Umgebungsgeräusche. An: Nur noch ein Suren! Wirklich! Ich war sehr überrascht von der Wirksamkeit der Technik! Und wirklich froh über den Kauf. Weiter: Wieder ausgeschaltet. Nun erst Musik von dem gleichen Handy angemacht. OK, die Kopfhörer klangen schon weeesentlich besser als die die ich im Flugzeug mit hatte. Das war schon mal ein Pluspunkt. Aber dann auch wieder angeschaltet: Klasse klang! Echt! Kein Grund mehr auf mein Handy böse zu sein. Die Kopfhörer haben a) eine sehr effektive Rauschunterdrückung, und b) auch noch so etwas wie einen Zusatzverstärker mit Klangverbesserung. Das mag nicht jedem so gut gefallen, aber ich finde den Klang super gut für meine Pop- und Schlagermusik, auch popige Instrumentalsongs gewinnen mit dieser Klanganpassung. Seit dem begleiten mich und meine Frau diese Kopfhörer auf jeder Bus- und Zugfahrt. Auch im ICE verringern diese Kopfhörer den Geräuschpegel von Zug und Mitreisenden, und die Musik klingt für mich einfach besser. Tolle Dinger für einen guten Preis. Hilft Dir diese Rezension bei der Kaufentscheidung -dafür oder dagegen-? Dann freue ich mich über ein "Hilfreich" :-) Neu im August 2017: Nun konnte ich den MDR recht umfassend testen. Flugzeug: Das gesamte typische Brummen verschwindet wie zur Zauberhand wenn man den Kopfhörer einschaltet. er lässt sich problemlos an den neuen Sitzen (3,5 mm Stereo) wie auch mit dem mitgelieferten(!!!) Adapter an den alten 2 x Mono Anschlüssen betreiben. Hier konnte ich auch endlich mal den Vergleich zu "früher" machen: Früher musste mein Tablett (Samsung) verschiedene Kopfhörer von "kostenlos" bis High End (na ja, 200 Euro klasse, das ist sicherlich für viele "Sauerstoffreie Kupferkabeljünger" noch Billigplastik) mit 97% (inkl. Warnung) betreiben. Das tat schon in den Ohren weh, aber ohne konnte ich kein Video/Sitcom im Flugzeug geniesen. Das Handy (Blackberry Priv, vorher Samsung S4 Active) schaffte die dafür nötige Lautstärke gar nicht. Diese Kopfhörer ermöglichen ein entspanntes (!) Hören bei 78-83%, und es tut nicht mehr weh. Ohne Signal vom Tablett oder Handy (Ja, das funktioniert nun auch im Flieger, da weniger "Kraft" benötigt wird) wird es angenehm ruhig auf den Ohren. Neben der Nackenstütze nun ein unverzichtbares Zubehör für den Flieger. ICE: Im Zug gibt es weniger tieffrequentes Brummen, der Reduzierungseffekt ist vorhanden, aber nicht so imposant wie im Flugzeug oder Bus. Der Tragekomfort und Klang reichen aber als Pluspunkt aus um die Kopfhörer auch im Zug einzusetzen. Bus: Siehe Überschrift. Frauen: Bei mehreren Frauen, vielleicht noch fremdsprachlich, macht alleine die natürliche Dämpfung schon den Aufenthalt angenehmer. Eingeschaltet wird das Gerede noch einmal etwas leiser. Grundsätzlich schaft der Sony nur tieffrequentes Brummen, so bleibt Sprache im Flieger wie in der Küche (leider) weiter gut verständlich. Aber er nützt etwas. Klang: passiv (ausgeschaltet) funktioniert er, gleicht aber keinerlei Schwäche des Zuspielgerätes aus. Hifi ist anders. Angeschaltet entwickelt er einen Klang der für mich super ist. Popmusik, Schlager, auch populäre Klassik wird angenehm wieder gegeben. Wer die dritte Geige hinten links in Göthes Zauberflöte (Ja ja, ich weiß das die von Mozart ist!) hören will, sollte sich überlegen ob der Flieger oder die Bahn wirklich die beste Stelle dafür ist. Haltbarkeit: Keine Defekte nach fast 2 Jahren. Eine der Batterieabdeckungen geht nun leichter und auch aus versehen ab, und kann dadurch leichter verloren gehen. Das ist alles. Die Sony's (ich hab zwei, für mich und meine Frau) sind gut verarbeitet, für den Preis sind sie unschlagbar in Technik und Haltbarkeit. Sollte ein Hörer Defekt werden, werde ich mir wieder so einen als Ersatz kaufen.

Los he usado en un viaje de avión de ida y vuelta más de 30 horas, y me han encantado. Calculo que cancelan un 70-80% del ruido de fondo del avión. Incluso sin estar escuchando nada, se nota mucho la disminución del ruido. Si además estás escuchando algo (películas, en mi caso), la diferencia con respecto a unos auriculares sin cancelación es enorme. El sonido es mucho más intenso y nítido. Y la pila, de momento, ha aguantado 30 horas sin problemas. No estaba seguro de si comprarlos porque no sabía si era una pijada de esas sólo perceptible por los "expertos" en audio (yo no lo soy y no soy especialmente exigente con las calidades), pero se nota, y mucho. Ergonómicamente son cómodos y no me han resultado nada pesados, ni siquiera tras varias horas seguidas de uso. Y por este precio, yo creo que merece la pena sin duda.

Je voulais un casque audio avec atténuation de bruit et les Bose / Parrot dans la gamme 300-400€ étaient hors budget. Ce casque Sony est surprenant pour ce prix ! 50€ en magasin, 33€ sur MyMemory GB, 10X moins que les autres hauts de gamme. points négatifs: - sensible au vent, en mode actif, amplifie le bruit d'un vent fort et devient gênant - réduit fortement les sons graves, ne les annule pas, et est peu efficace pour les medium et aigus - ne couvre pas complètement l'oreille dû à sa dimension positifs : - amplifie les basses en mode actif, très agréable - pour mon utilisation urbaine, il est génial contre le bruit des voitures, travaux, trains, transports en commun - plein d'autre utilisateurs ont un sony (modèle passif) et n'attire pas l'attention des voyous (comparé aux marques prestigieuses) - après 3 semaines d'utilisation, toujours solide et impeccable - possède un bouton pour mettre en pause la musique du smartphone - possède un micro qui le rend kit mains libres, très pratique pour répondre et parler en toute discrétion - enfin, malgré ses points faibles, il mérite ces 5 étoiles car pour ce prix là ...

J'était très sceptique au départ sur la qualité que ce casque allait donner, mais après avoir reçu avec un adaptateur avion et une petite pile qu'on retrouve dans les "télécommandes" c'est parti pour une très bonne surprise. On retrouve une réduction de bruit largement acceptable, j'aime bien la pile à la place d'une batterie, j'en ai plein chez moi des rechargeables ^^, on retrouve de bonne basse et du bon son en général. Dans le cas où on désactive la réduction de bruit, le son perdera de sa vigueur, moins de basse et son etouffé, j'ai accidentellement laissé allumé la reduction de bruit durant 2Jours, plus de pile ^^ et donc j'ai du subir mais bon ça allait quand même, c'est mieux que rien ^^ Que dire d'autre, il y a un micro, ou se trouve un bouton lecture/pause et la prise jack est coudée. Très satisfait pour le moment, j'espère que le cable va tenir, on peut pas le changer et c'est tjrs ça le point faible de tout les casque filiaire ou le cable n'est pas detachable.
