SPARES2GO Lower Change Over Valve + Short Internal Hose for Dyson DC40 Vacuum Cleaner

Works well. Just as intended

The lower hose is very quick and easy to change. 10 seconds to change. Just a basic tool required to push a clip in, no real advantage of screwdriver over a spoon though. The change over valve is a little more difficult, but within the capability of most owners. 10 minutes to change. This involves removal of some screws and parts, and repeatedly moving parts. There are plenty of instructional videos on sites like YouTube and you only need 2 common torx screwdrivers. In case you are wondering you can use the torx bits from a socket set and these sizes are common in most standard socket sets. I only had problems putting one screw in during reassemble, but that was due to me not aligning the change over valve mechanism properly. After a bit of head scraching and rewatching the video this was identified and rectified. No problems with either part yet, but the pictures on others reviews are worrying. I would expect this from all suppliers on Amazon, they all seem to be selling of compatible parts. Unless you can buy OEM parts from Dyson, you cannot guarantee that the compatible parts are of Dysons high standards. That said you are looking for parts because Dysons OEM parts have failed, maybe the compatible parts are just as good.

Not a 100% fit, but does the job way cheaper than OEM parts.

Plastic cap kept detaching

On first inspection seal on duck valve hose looked flimsy, (later found out not glued either) but it all fitted ok and work initially! second time using the seal got sucked into the hoover collection cylinder and suction was terrible. Stripped down again and ended up fitting the original Dyson seal from old one which was partially glued on. Re glued old seal on new part only for the hose part to become detached from the plastic end. Should have returned there and then bug needed it working so decided to re glue hose and end back together. Working for now but waiting on original parts from Dyson. Lesson learned won’t be buying fro here again.

easy replacement Dyson parts

Buy a set of Torx precision screwdrivers to undo the screws on the Dyson. The parts are the only thing I have replaced on my 12 year old dyson

Only needed the change over hose. The seal was flimsy and kept coming off, used the original seal and so far it has stayed on. The red hose didn't latch in properly and kept coming off. Re fitted the original hose. Pity because the hose seems fine for the price.
