Ubiquiti Amplifi 4-Ports Home Wi-Fi System AFI HD Wireless Router with 2 pin European plug

If ever there was anything that proves that you really do get what you pay for then this is it! Having 200meg Virgin broadband but being fed up with slow, unreliable WiFi around the house, despite having various access points installed (3 AP + the main router). I decided to research in to many mesh systems and having narrowed it down to the final 2 and speaking to an IT technician at my workplace. The decision was made to take the plunge and buy myself the AMPLIFI Home HD mesh system. Never spending so much on a router before, I was apprehensive but something had to be done to put an end to the constant family WiFi frustrations! So here we are 3 months in without a single complaint of drop out or slow speed. Absolute bliss! I have the main router in my lounge and to be fair, even before adding the 2 APs included in the kit, the WiFi coverage was solid and much better than my old setup. With an AP located in my back lounge this gives solid, fast WiFi everywhere in the garden as well! With the 2nd AP placed in a bedroom at the front of the house we now have amazing coverage everywhere around the house! To give you an idea of the size of the coverage area my home is a 4 bedroom with 3 downstairs reception rooms, kitchen and my loft is converted to an office. There’s 5 adults in the house with mobile phones, smart TVs, Xbox, PS5, so there’s always something being streamed and gaming taking place. Setup was very easy and the instructions were easy to follow, although I do have some knowledge of setting up networks. But shouldn’t be a problem for most people. So in conclusion. Yes, the £300+ price is more than some of the other available systems but in terms of overall value for money for the quality you get, I cannot recommend this enough!!! One thing you could try before opting for the full kit is to purchase the router first and see how your coverage is without the APs. Individual APs are available to purchase and you can then build up your system to suit your home/building. This works out slight more expensive but could save you money if you don’t need 2 APs.

I bought ubiquity as I was having problems with Sonos over tplink. I am in a period house with some areas that receive a bad signal or not at all. I needed a single mesh network rather than multiple ones where I would have to disconnect and reconnect in diff. rooms. This was recommended to me by a colleague and after doing the research, although people have objections about the look of the extenders, it is in summary the most powerful out there. The look of the main base unit is amazing though - has a clock , you can control the light and even though I care about the technology, I am impressed by the design. I bought the pack with the main router and the two extenders. I was told that the main router is very powerful and I may not need the extenders but I wanted to get this sorted so went for the bigger pack. It is true that the main unit just about covered the whole house (3 story) with no extenders. The dead spots where no longer dead. I added the extenders to make the signal more powerful. Something I was nervous about and could not find answers for easily and it’s worth covering here: I have a BT home hub I needed to connect this to and everything I had read before pointed to the fact that the BT home hub does not have a modem only configuration - and indeed it does not. This means it does not have a configuration where it only provides the internet and leaves the routing work to ubiquity. The BT home hub would also create its own network and route data around. On this basis I was fully expecting the setup to be complicated. I read lots of articles and forum replies before even trying, but setup was a breeze. It just works! So if you are happy to connect the main unit by cable to bt home hub, then you are sorted - it just works! If you want to be tidy you can switch off the wireless transmission on the bt home hub but you don’t have to. Ubiquity will create its own separate network. If you want to have a wireless connection between the main unit and your bt home hub then that’s when it gets complicated. There is an article out there that explains how but I have not tested as I did not want the hastle. From a cost perspective also note it’s possibly at the top of the range but whereas with other brands you may need base unit and extenders, this base unit is so powerful that it can be sufficient on its own and therefore a cost saving too. Enjoy! This is an excellent product - the most powerful but at the top of the range form a cost basis.

Bought this based on the good reviews. We have a Virgin Media super hub which, like its predecessor, we had to regularly switch off and on again simply to get a wifi signal. Not every day, but at least two or three times per week. Plus, we had a number of wifi dead spots around the house which two Netgear extenders could not penetrate. We bought this kit, followed the instructions on the VM website to set the hub to modem mode, and plugged in the router only at first. This instantly improved the reach all around the house, but seeing as we had the mesh extenders as well, we plugged them in too (all UK plugs by the way). The app made it very easy to set up the system. The mesh extenders have small LEDs which light up depending on the signal strength; I moved one to a better spot for full-strength coverage. The app also shows you how well the system is working. Now we have full strength coverage all around the house and into the garden. The kit looks cool and is user-friendly; so simple to tap the screen on the router to scroll through various read-outs such as download speeds. It has a number of ports so you can plug in plenty of ethernet cables. Our kit has now been in use for two months and not once have we had to reboot the system - strong, consistent coverage and worth the money given how many devices we connect to it, including home security.

Did quite a bit of research before choosing the AmplifiHD system and overall so far happy with the choice. Looks smart and simple to setup and I think with the expensive price tag. Wifi signal is good and so far only using one of the two mesh points that come with the main router. The 4 Lan ports that come in the main router are also a big selling point for me. However, was annoyed and disappointed to find that you can't specify the private IP address of the router - it defaults to .1 of any network address you set. So if you set your network as 192.168.100.0/24, then it will set itself as 192.168.100.1. This is fine for new networks, but if you have an existing network with other servers and happen to use .1 as it's IP address, then you have to change your existing server's address for things to work properly. on my network, .1 is the address of the ESXI host carrying 4 VM's (including my FREENAS server which also runs PLEX media server..) This meant hours of reconfiguring which was pretty annoying. So one star docked for not having something as basic as bring able to fully configure and specify the IP address of the router. Ubiquity have said they will refer this to their development team but no idea whether this will be done anytime soon. Kudos though for a quick response from Ubiquity when using the chat function...

Being a Virgin Media customer and having a super fast 200 mbps line, I have never really been able to take advantage of the blistering download speeds unless I had a ethernet cable plugged in to the VM router. The Virgin Media hub, even though dual band running both 2.5 ghz and 5 ghz (our third VM hub to date) had constant connection issues with connecting to a sky box, various iPhones, Dell Laptops and Apple TV and a number of WiFi dead spots around the home. The Amplifi system is by no means cheap or what could be considered a budget / value product, however, after doing some serious research on YouTube / Google and asking some relevant questions on Amazon I decided it was time to bite the bullet and give it a serious try. The package arrived on time, and undamaged. Within about 20 mins of getting it out of the box, plugged in and set up we started to enjoy serious download speeds right across the house. Using a SPEEDTEST app on my iPhone it was immediately clear on just how good this set up is, regularly showing between 220 mbps - 225 mbps with the average at about 220 mbps. Through my Virgin Media Hub I would get at best 130 mbps with an average of about 90 mbps (if that). I would thoroughly recommend this product, It is amazingly fast, very reliable and extremely easy to set up. I would suggest to anyone who is using a standard Wifi router provided by Virgin Media (or other standard wifi router from their Broadband Supplier) to upgrade to a performance wifi router. Just as a note, the original Virgin Media hub had to stay is situ (the Amplifi system is not a modem), I changed the setting on the Virgin Media Hub to 'Modem Mode Only' which meant the Virgin Media hub no longer transmitted WiFi.

I have to say what a superb product this is. I was an early adopter of the Linksys Velop system, after reading many reviews this seemed to be the fastest and would give me what I needed. After 18 months of non stop hassle, no wifi issues even though it would say that the wifi was working I finally gave up and started again in my search. I ordered a Netgear Orbi and this to didn't give me the wifi that I needed in my 3 storey solid wall house. I then had the pleasure to order this. Let me tell you that it was by far the easiest to set up of all these mesh networks. I spent hours and days trying to sort the others out, only for them not to meet my expectations. I ended up ordering this and then an additional Mesh point, so I have 3 altogether and boom I have pretty much full speed wifi in my whole house. The set up experience was by far the easiest and after altering some of the settings it was up and running properly in about 30 minutes. It looks the neatest of all the others. If you are thinking of getting a mesh network I would strongly suggest that you get this superb bit of equipment if you want something simple that just works.

Like the product but it seems that the functionality it has doesn't suite my needs. Tried getting in contact with the Amplifi support but they stopped communicating midway through. I assume that they either could not find an answer or didn't want to give me one. Shame really

I have been using Ubiquiti products since 2004. I have used many of their consumer grade products with success. Many of their products have become hard to get and quite expensive since the "Chip Shortage" and "COVID Supply Chain" problems. Before getting this Amplifi system I ordered the Linksys Velop system (Because it was the only system in stock). I was disappointed with the Velop's user interface and lack of features. The wireless signal was OK at best with line-of-site but went to unusable when any separation or obstructions were introduced. I spent many hours troubleshooting. My current house presents an RF challenge, which would have required purchasing double the Velop nodes. The Ubiquiti Amplifi system became available, so I jumped at the chance to order it. I spent about 30 mins setting it up and it has been running great for about a month. The wireless connections between nodes and from client to node is so much better. My coverage and quality of RF is much better with less Amplifi nodes than the Velop system. The one feature that I did like about the Velop is that the nodes had 2 1-Gb ethernet ports. These plug-in nodes do not. The main node has 4 ports. I would like to see at least 1 port on the plug-in node to add a small switch for expansion.

He esperado casi un año para escribir esta opinión, para poder hablar con propiedad sobre el producto. Bien, decir que ha cumplido de sobra las expectativas, barajé muchas otras posibilidades a la hora de montar mi red mesh y me decanté por esta sobretodo por su diseño y por la confianza que tengo en la marca ubiquiti. El diseño es precioso en comparación a cualquier otro dispositivo de su categoría. La facilidad de instalación hace de este dispositivo una muy buena opción para cualquier tipo de usuario, teniendo en cuenta que también dispone de configuraciones avanzadas para usuarios más exigentes. El alcance que ofrece y la cobertura de señal es bastante buena, teniendo en cuenta que está destinado a un uso doméstico y no profesional. El software de gestión del dispositivo, aunque simple, funciona a la perfección. Algo a tener en cuenta, es el servicio postventa al cliente, ya que a través de la app tiene acceso a un chat las 24h del día en el cual resuelven las dudas y ayudan con todo tipo de instalación. Solo decir que después de comprar el kit de dos satélites y router, quedé tan contento que he comprado otro router independiente y un satélite más. Ahora jardín y vivienda completa tiene wifi en toda la parcela sin ninguna zona oscura. Aunque el precio puede echar para atrás en un primer momento, comprarlo me ha evitado muchos dolores de cabeza...

Aprs savoir trouver les meilleurs emplacmenents pour les antennes c'est un plaisir et avec le control je peux voir qui est connecté et controler les appareils des petits et leur donner des plages horaires d'utlisation.

A great wifi system that, whilst not cheap, is truly easy to set up, bulletproof and works really well. After years of struggling with Netgear and Billion networks, changing networks at the other end of the house, it's a real pleasure to use such an easy to configure and reliable MESH network

Parto dal mio problema: la mia abitazione è posta su due piani: un piano terra ed una mansarda, entrambi di circa 70 mq. Caso vuole che che il Modem/Router di Telecom Fibra sia posizionato in Mansarda, e che di conseguenza la copertura WiFi non raggiunga tutti i locali nel piano interiore. E’ un problema di cui ho sofferto a lungo, e per cui ho cercato rimedio affidandomi a diversi soluzioni di Network Extender basati su diverse tecnologie (via rete elettrica oppure come amplificatore della WiFi), ma nessuna si è rivelata efficace, sia per stabilità, che per prestazioni e per un aspetto che non mi è mai piaciuto, ossia di dover creare una seconda SSID per il piano inferiore, quando invece io volevo avere una sola WiFi cui fare riferimento. Detto questo, facendo qualche ricerca, sono incappato in Ubiquity, un’azienda specializzata in dispositivi di connessione wireless soprattutto per il campo industriale, quindi access points per esterni, strutture alberghiere e luoghi pubblici, antenne di trasmissione radio ed altro ancora, e che recentemente a prodotto una linea di prodotti Soho per il mercato consumer, AmpliFi, dalle caratteristiche che mi hanno subito interessato. Il prodotto in questione, AmpliFi, è un router WiFi a cui si può associare, per estenderne la portata, dei Mesh Point, ossia delle antenne radio bastate sulla tecnologia Mesh. Partiamo dall'unboxing: il prodotto da me preso è l’edizione con due antenne in dotazione, ma si può naturalmente anche prendere solo il Router ed una o più antenne a seconda delle necessità. La confezione è degna di un prodotto Apple, e sembra fatta più per un articolo di design che non per un oggetto di tecnologia: curatissima, robusta, elegante, davvero un peccato quasi non doverla utilizzare in altri momenti. L’aspetto dell’eleganza e della cura del design non si ferma alla confezione, ma prosegue anche nei prodotti veri e propri: il router è un piccolo cubo bianco su cui si trova, su un lato un bellissimo display rotondo LCD a colori, che reagisce al tocco, su cui visualizzare varie informazioni od attivare determinate funzioni, mentre sulla faccia opposta si trovano le connessioni: 4 porte Gigabit Ethernet, una porta per il collegamento al modem, una porta USB e quella di alimentazione. A mio avviso, e si evince penso anche dalle foto, è forse uno dei pochi Router che si ha voglia di far vedere invece che di nascondere: la luminosità del display è tarabile a piacere, può anche essere programmato nella sua accensione e spegnimento, ed in aggiunta c’è anche una luce bianca, anch’essa personalizzabile, alla base del cubo: davvero un bel oggetto. Il display può mostrare diverse informazioni, come la velocità di connessione, la quantità di traffico, le porte utilizzate, l’orario ed altro semplicemente toccandolo ciclicamente. Installazione: niente di più facile. Colleghi il cavo di rete dal Modem al Router, lo accendi, e lanci l’App dedicata su iOS o Android, ed questa ti guida attraverso semplici passi a configurare il tuo AmpliFi. Aggiungo che anche l’App è fatta benissimo, come usabilità e come eleganza nel design. Attraverso questa puoi successivamente anche configurare le antenne Mesh, verificare la potenza del segnale, nominare rete e antenne, controllare l’utilizzo della rete da parte dei dispositivi (ottimo per bloccare per esempio l’uso della rete ai tuoi figli), definire una rete ospiti con accesso temporizzato, ed altre chicche ancora. Le antenne sono costituite da due elementi: una base che contempla la presa a muro (sono Shuko, da tener presente) e il corpo dell’antenna che si aggancia alla base attraverso un perno magnetico, che ne permette l’orientamento, questo perchè la potenza del segnale è tanto più forte quanto più l'antenna è orientata nella direzione del Router (l’App ti segnala in ogni caso l’intensità, per cui basta fare qualche semplice prova). Conclusioni: a me ha risolto brillantemente il problema che avevo, fornendomi una copertura WiFi al massimo delle prestazioni della rete di cui dispongo in tutti gli angoli più remoti della mia abitazione su due piani, e questo senza dover definire due reti WiFi distinte (quella del Modem/Router Telecom l’ho spenta). Nel mio caso è stato sufficiente l’utilizzo di una sola antenna. Pro: Alta qualità costruttiva Eccellenti prestazioni Il primo Router che fa arredo per livello di design App di configurazione e gestione fatta come Dio comanda Installazione a prova di chiunque per semplicità Copertura totale Contro Le antenne non sono così eleganti come il Router La presa Shuko può essere un problema, obbliga a cambiare la presa a muro o a usare un adattatore Costoso (306€ per il Bundle con due antenne), ma mi sento di dire che vale quello che costa
