Chose this one because although it doesn't have an iPod dock, it has DAB radio which is more important to him. He can still plug in his phone/iPod through the aux jack at the front of the radio. Be aware that it doesn't come with a Makita battery, nor does it charge batteries, but you can power it from your Makita batteries.
