## Overview

Cup4Cup Multipurpose Flour is a 3-pound, chef-developed gluten-free flour designed as a 1:1 substitute for all-purpose flour. Certified gluten-free, non-GMO, and kosher, it delivers neutral flavor and versatile use across baked goods and savory dishes, enabling you to enjoy your favorite recipes without compromise.

## Description

“Giving up gluten doesn’t mean giving up on the foods you’ve always loved.” Developed by chefs of Thomas Keller’s acclaimed restaurants, Cup4Cup’s Multipurpose Flour is the original gluten free flour and first 1-to-1 substitution for all-purpose and wheat flour in most any recipe. Unlike most gluten-free flours, Cup4Cup has a neutral flavor that won’t change the taste of your favorite recipes, making it the perfect gluten-free solution for your favorite cookies, cakes, cupcakes, quick breads, pie crust, gravy and sauces, scones, muffins and homemade pasta. Gluten Free but you’ll never know it!

Review: The Best GF Flour But Pricey - Cup4cup is the closest gluten free substitute I’ve found to regular all purpose flour. I’ve used it in beer bread, cookies, sauces, breaded meat and it works very well in all circumstances. It’s not perfect in beer bread, but miles ahead of the few other GF flours I’ve tried. Admittedly there are way more brands of GF all purpose flour out there than I’ve tried. I’ve only used three, but Cup4cup is the very clear winner. Lots of people seem to have a definite favorite and there’s no consensus I can discern. I might revise this if I stumble upon a something better. I also haven’t tried any of the GF pastry flours, that may solve my problem with the bread. Three things I’m not thrilled with: 1) Cup4cup contains dairy. I try to be dairy free since I’m intolerant, and it was not clear until I read the ingredient list carefully that milk powder was an ingredient. A lot of people intolerant to gluten are also intolerant to casein in dairy. So I’d make that fact of containing milk a little more obvious on the packaging especially since it’s not an “expected” ingredient. (The dairy didn’t end up being very noticeable to me after using it, but it may be for others.) 2) Cup4cup is super expensive, even by the standards of other gluten free all purpose flours, which is priced far higher than wheat all purpose flour. So it’s some pricey stuff and I’ve never really understood why since the ingredient list isn’t terribly exotic. There is no real cost benefit even in the expensive domain of gluten free foods of making your own baked goods if you’re using Cup4cup, you’re clearly baking for enjoyment only. That’s ok for the hobbyist chef, but paying more in the end than the prepared foods is a little bizarre. 3) Cup4cup has been difficult to consistently source during the pandemic quarantine. Granted, there was a huge run on flour of all types, but my local store just pulled Cup4cup entirely after selling out. Out of four desertcart orders, two were in stock and shipped next day, one was only available through desertcartFresh and the last one was through regular Prime but took two weeks to ship. Things appear back to normal availability online, but my local grocery store hasn’t brought it back. Bottom line is that I’m using Cup4cup until I land on something better, if that ever happens. I’ll still search other stuff out because of the high price and availability. But the quality is pretty darn good.
Review: BEST FOR GF BAKING - I've used lots of GF flours and this one is the best I've found for baked goods. The first time I used it I could see and feel a difference. It seems to be more finely milled, making it lighter and softer than I expected. It bakes up fluffy cakes and muffins and flakey pastries. It contains it's own binding agent, so there's no guesswork involved. It isn't going to work for (yeast) bread making as it has no Gluten, but it does make nice light quick breads and pancakes/waffles. I still use panko for breading, but it works well in batters for fried foods and for thickening sauces and gravies. This is my go-to all purpose GF flour.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best GF flour
*by J***Y on July 27, 2025*

This is my favorite gluten free flour, and I've tried a lot of them. Since it's a 1-1 match, it's super easy to use, and it works with almost any recipe. I've made everything from pizza crust and dumplings to pastries and cakes. And people don't even know that they're eating gluten free baked goods, it's that good. They've also gotten rid of the milk powder ingredient, so it's dairy-free as well, which is a huge plus.
