HW PRODUCTS ALTO SAXOPHONE PAD SAVER

My clarinet is less than three months old and wooden. I have therefore been swabbing carefully and using cleaning papers. I was dismayed when at least one key started showing signs of sticking. When I first got it out the next day one key in particular had stuck. Only a little but it was happening despite what I thought were my best efforts. So I changed my routine (I started blowing out the tone holes with pads) and I invested in a set of these pad savers. I now am finding NO SIGN OF STICKING! My new routine now includes fifteen minutes to half an hour with a pad saver in each joint. After inserting them I work them backwards and forwards a little to get the fibres into the tone holes. I’ve not had any issues with fibres getting caught OR shedding. Obviously, I also let the joints air for an hour afterwards. I do not store the savers in the joints. I throughly air them and store separately from the instrument. I believe these well constructed pad savers ARE WORKING VERY WELL.

Curious about the warning on the label that it might hold carcinogenic chemicals. I therefore do not leave it inside the clarinet, but I wasn't intending to anyway. I just use it to clean it. That being said, I found the smaller brush needs to be handled gently in the upper clarinet piece, as it sometimes catches on the inner bits.

It fits my alto sax perfectly. I have heard differing points of view about these and the conclusion I have come to is - clean your sax after every use, including the mouth piece. Tip out the excess moisture, use the Pull-Through then place the Pad Saver inside. It is not meant to clean the sax. That's my understanding after much research. I decided to buy this after a professional player, who also repairs saxophones, recommended them. You can leave it in after cleaning or not. As a beginner, I decided to develop the good habit of caring for my instrument after each use. I'll leave the debate to roll on as I'm sure it will. This method is the one I've decided to adopt. I'll clean and then leave this inside.

The speedy delivery from the company was brilliant, dont think it would have been quicker if they brought it to my door in person. The product fits my Alto sax perfectly and it still fits into the case if I want to leave the pad saver inside. I clean the sax with a pull through first and then will leave this in a while to give it the best chance of getting rid of any moisture I missed. Not having used one of these before, I have nothing to compare it to, but it appears it will do the job it is made for and I am very happy with it.

This is great, you stick and leave it in your sax. Generally noted as a very reputable product anyway. As you have to leave it in the sax, it ensures that you use it. Love the electric blue colour - not that that's important :)

Works well it soaks up saliva from the body of the sax..Also should stop pads from sticking if inserted right after playing then pulled out.. and reinserted. Only took a couple of times to make the interior of my sax dry inside. I don't leave it inside my sax.

The purchase of this product on Amazon caused me to "accidently" sign up for Amazon Prime AGAIN and me to cancel it YET AGAIN. I deleted all the other products that I had in the basket that I could get elswhere but failed in the short term to find alternative supplier for the product so kept it (it was priced with postage included anyway). I have now resolved to look for all future requirements from other than Amazon until they stop the disgusting habit of duping people into signing up to Prime.
