To be totally honest I'm not sure. There are Tens machines that are sold especially for labour, however I do not know the difference. The best advise is to talk to the hospital, midwife or maternity consultant for advise and guidance. With something as important and precious as a new baby it is always best to play safe.

How long does it run before it automatically turns off?

it dosn't turn itself off automatically, other models that do normally run for 20 mins max, which if like me your pain is pretty much constant to one degree or another is if you will pardon the punn "a pain" as you have to start the programme running again.Value for money and effectivness I have found that this is the best TENS on the market and have recommended it to others who have purchased it and use it daily as do I. Hope this helps, at this price you cant go wrong
