I think these books are often bought as a special gift and inevitably end up just living on a shelf, which is a shame. She absolutely loves small books and this one is just the right size for her little hands. I took the dust jacket off as it’s a bit fiddly and likely to just get squashed. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful. The language is definitely of its time but there is no harm in children hearing unfamiliar words and the story is clear. This is a current favourite in our household and she asks for it as a bedtime story every day, enjoying it more and more as it becomes a familiar tale.
