Beautiful Router
I bought this router at B&Q as it was a Bosch, and was on offer at £20.00 reduction. I suppose the first thing to say is that if I was considering this product for professional trade I'd spend the extra and go for a 'professional' router with fine adjustment capabilities and proven longevity etc. Having said that, if I was starting out with little cash, I'd be confident in its abilities, and use it as a second router when I could afford the 'proper' stuff. It is extremely comfortable and stable in use, and despite being confined to quarter inch, 6mm and 8mm router bits, ploughs through anything you throw at it with nice results. I used it straight away on renovating an old wooden sailing boat, tackling some meaty lengths of wood, and it didn't flinch..............especially impressed with its deep and long rebating ability. I've also used it to build speaker cabinets of various complexity and have found that the guide plate (provided with attachable pin) allows you to rout perfect circular, rebated speaker apertures extremely easily and accurately, despite it not having fine tuning capabilities. It will also rout down to a very tight radius. The template guide provided, in conjunction with home-made and appropriately shaped and sized jig, facilitates the cutting of weird and irregular shapes, quickly and accurately. I noticed in a previous review that reviewer said you couldn't use the 1200 AE in a router table because of the safety trigger mechanism (excellent feature). It is possible however, by clamping it with a large clip/peg, or some other method. You can also rig up a car jack or simple lever system to raise and lower the router to the desired depth, locking it off in the normal way on the router itself. The plunge action wasn't that smooth initially, as other reviews have mentioned, but a quick squirt of WD40 rendered it as smooth as butter. Apparently routers in all price ranges can be a bit sticky initially. So, to sum up, the Bosch POF 1200 AE in my experience, is an incredibly versatile and capable router, possessing a high degree of comfort and usability for such a reasonable price. It's maybe not a 'pro' tool, but it achieves professional results and gets a hearty 5 stars from me.

Easy to use, well designed router. Lots of uses. Clear instructions
I should start this off by saying this was my first router, so I dont have anything to compare it to. I did spend quite some time looking at reviews first both on amazon and on google, and within the price range I wanted to go with this came out as the best option for a happy home hobby hero. I also bought the bosch 15 bit router set to go with it so I could make different shapes. Probably other sets would work as well, but I wanted to make sure the weak link was likely to be me, so any necessary problem solving would have a simple starting point! Initially I didnt bother with instructions ( I am man) just put it on a piece of wood and pressed go. After I threw that piece of wood away I had a look at the instructions and how to set it all up and it was really simple and straightforward. It comes with a guide, as in the picture, which is nice and stable and allows you to quite easily line the bit up. The plunger is very easy to use, just a convenient button click while youre holding the handles. There is a sort of depth block, so once you set it up you dont have to worry about going too deep, not deep enough or just being inconsistent.(Again, had no experience with routers so all this was important) The instructions are really very clear, both for these sort of usage set up bits, and for changing the router bits safely. Obviously if you're genuinely manly, you won't want anyone to see you reading them, but they're there in case you need to let someone else use the router at some stage ... So far Ive used this to make skirting board from some planks I had lying around, to put some professional looking finishes to cabinet/box things I was making, to make some nice grooves in some supports for a kitchen unit, and ( freehand) to put some grooves in a shelf which I then filled with luminous(luminescent?) resin to make a really cool glow in the dark type shelf. I'm a pretty bog standard DIYer but this does let you really add a bit of class to your stuff and is easy, fun and straightforward to use

Great little tool...
I bought this router as I had all my tools stolen, including both my routers. This was bought s a happy medium, as I cannot afford to replace everything at once. Therefore it had to be powerful enough to keep on going on large jobs and gentle enough for some of the delicate intricate work I do occasionally. It surpassed expectations, it is easy to control when free handing and powerful enough to cut deep detail into hard woods, soft woods and mdf. Only a couple of minor critisisms, the first of which is probably unfair, is my kitchen fitter cutters are too big for it, which meant more expense. In hindsight, I should have bought its big sister, as it comes with more toys, but this one was a great deal. It will be an important part of my tool kit for many years to come. The second critisism is the plastic guard is a little flimsy and I fear in time it is going to break off. It hasn't yet though, so only time will tell.

Easy to use
I have never used a router before but I am familiar with a lot of power tools and machine tools. I was torn between this one and the more expensive POF 1400 ACE - however this one was on special offer so that made my mind up for me. And with the money I saved I bought a few bits. I used this fairly frequently for about 6 months on a big DIY project I was building. It does have a few limitations over the more expensive version but soon I learnt to overcome them. It doesn't have an inbuilt light - I used a torch The height adjustment can be a bit hit and miss for fine adjustment - but I used scrap bits of wood to get the correct height. The variable speed is good. The 3 different collet sizes (6mm 1/4" and 8mm) gives you more versatility when buying bits so helps to keep costs down. Overall I'm pleased with the router and for DIY occasional use I think its a good buy.

Very good
This is the first time I have bought a router like this, so I do not have anything to compare it with but I am impressed with how it works considering the relatively low cost. I've only been cutting fairly thin pieces of wood, I wouldn't be confident using this on large pieces of hardwood, but it has done everything I have asked it to do. The router is easy to hold and manoeuvre and seems sturdy and unlikely to fall apart or break easily. You have to be a little bit careful with what you're doing as it is not easy to see the bit as you use it and the controls could be a bit better than they are. You do get a decent amount of power though, more than I thought would be the case. I'm sure you could buy much more expensive routers but I'm not going to be a regular user, and this has done an excellent job on the few small things that I needed to cut.

Brilliant machine
This is a great router. I'd never used one before and it took a little getting used to - but after watching a few youtube videos and other demonstrations with routers from the Trend website - I was soon up and running. It does all the cut work that I want to do and trims beautifully. Its nice and soft to use and I haven't come across any problems so far. As I am new to the world of routers I still have a lot to learn that I am very excited about. Its very stable and has different speed settings for different types of wood. So far I have only used two bits in the shank - a straight cutter and a trimmer. Both worked fine and created beautiful work that really made my work stand out. If you're into routers as a beginner - for the price - this is a great one to start with. You can always buy a cheapish set of bits to practice with before spending more on higher quality bits. Great machine. I would highly recommend this for beginners. Once you know more about what you are doing - a router with a half inch shank will give you more stability - depending on the work you are doing. Good luck to new users.

Good
Everything is good, built, quality, performance all solid, voltage 230v 50hz, three pin Uk plug, router comes with 8mm, 6.35mm & 6mm collect, parallel guides, new box, original Bosch, all performs more than expectation. But I don't understand, the variable speed control is only usable is 5 and 6, lower than that doesn't work. Previously I purchased Bosh POF1400 had the same issue, so I returned. I decided to keep this and live with Bosch POF 1200 AE because the sweet spot for speed is anyway 5 and 6 for 99 percent of the work. Bosch the boss.

It's a Bosch...
Great quality and ideal for DIY or professional use. The parallel guide is sturdy and also the spindle lock works very well. It's just Bosch.
