Put on the film and rub it down with a wad of something soft from middle to edges - no need for water or soap. HOWEVER my inclination would be to wait until things are a bit warmer so that the film is more malleable and air can be pressed out that little bit more easily - and by the way - we applied to both the inside and an outside window with excellent results. They also came in different sizes for ... *by G***O on 16 September 2017* I chose Rabbitgoo because they were based in the UK, shipping from the UK, and appeared to be good value. They also came in different sizes for the three door windows I wanted covered which improved the value. The product was easy to apply, even though the glass is not smooth but bumpy privacy glass, and has remained in situ for a week now with no apparent issues. It did need two people to apply it but I was covering a large area. The pattern is lovely and quite subtle. The privacy is improved but it does not completely block out windows like the frosted sheeting does (hence 4 not 5 stars) if that's what you're looking for. The light changes all day through the pattern and even at night the street lights look pretty. I'm really happy with this film and I hope it lasts a good while. It's only been up a week so I can't comment on its UV blocking properties nor it's proposed insulating properties yet.
