Great aquarium heater
I was having problems keeping my new tropical aquarium temperature stable, even though I was using the correct sized heater for my tank. So I did some research into my fluctuating heat problem. I found on the internet that my problem might be caused, by my house being too cold, due to me living in the countryside. It recommended that I used the next sized heater up from mine or to use 2 heaters to stabilize the temperature. Being that my heater I had was a 200 wat I decided to go for a 300 watt heater. My next problem was, which make to go for.. For this again I turned to the internet, on the reviews done on the different makes. I was guided towards the "Fluval E300" by being one of the top recommended by the review web sites. From there I went on the Amazon web site. I checked the customer reviews. They were very mixed, in their opinions. So I was unsure but noticed there was a couple of reviews that stated that if you followed what they had done, all was well & that would rectify those problems the other reviewers were having, while using this item. So it was at this point I ordered it, even though it was quite expensive compared to some others at Amazon. It arrived the next day via Amazon Prime Delivery. I eagerly unpacked it and swapped it over. I followed what some of the other reviewers had stated to do, just so I could get the best out of this heater. 1st; I placed it at a 45° angle in the aquarium, as per the other reviewers advice. 2nd; I made sure it had a good water flow over it 3rd; adjusted the temperature to what I required. Then left it alone to hopefully sort out my heating issues. The next day I went straight to the aquarium, to check the temperature of it, against my other thermostat placed on the opposite side of the aquarium to the heater, I was very skeptical at this point. Well low & behold it was within 0.4°c difference. Since having this "Fluval E300" heater I have checked the temperature on numerous occasions and the temperature hasn't changed, even during the night, when it is at it's lowest room temperature. I would definitely recommend these "Fluval E series" heaters but just be guided by the above advice and other helpful reviews please, and it will be a great product for you, just as it is for me 5++ highly recommended item time has moved on now and at least 6month & still the heater is perfect keeping good temperature

EUROPEAN PLUG!! on UK item
Other customers should know that despite this item being ordered in the UK, it was fitted with a EUROPEAN PLUG!!! Luckily, as this was an emergency heater to replace a failed one of same make, I had an adaptor to hand, otherwise I'd have likely had dead fish. Poor show amazon, at very least you should make this very clear to UK buyers. After a week it has failed to get my 56 gallon tank above 25 degrees according to its temperature display. Interestingly the fluval internal/ external thermometer shows 23.5 degrees. I have no faith either is correct.

Quality product
Purchased two of these years ago for a 500 litre tank. Buying new ones as they are very old now and I trust the brand but don't want to risk a power failure. Some people complain about it needing high flow, to be able to heat a 375 litre tank with 300 watts for example, DOES require good flow rate around the tank. Generally you want 1w per litre to be safe and keep a constant temp, more if your house is very cold. I find also if you have poor insulation on your house, or thin glass on our aquarium you will lose heat very quickly, this is why I run two 300w in my 500 litre, one as a backup set about 0.5c cooler than the other that kicks in if the other doesn't. I put one near my intake slightly at an angle and low to the bottom of the tank, the other goes on the other side of the tank underneath the spray bar, i positioned a small power head fan near the heater also to ensure my tank has good flow and good circulation meaning my heaters need to be on less. Also by having the two heaters either side it ensures a more even temperature in the tank. IN the 3+ years I have had these heaters they haven't failure, fried my fish. I also love the protective plastic around it, making sure any fish do not get stuck and burnt.

Thank goodness for advice in other reviews.
Ok, so thank goodness for one of the top reviews which pointed out some of the difficulties with this heater because I too had to place it at 45 degrees under the water and faff about with its placement to get the filter outflow pouring over it. I have a new Fluval corner tank, so I expected it to be straightforward as per the instructions. Once I had got it stable for 48 hours, it started loosing temperature AND gave me the low flow sign. I did what the top poster said - switched it off for a minute, raised it to the highest temp, back to the lowest and then to the temp I wanted (26 degrees). When I got up in the morning all was well and has been for a couple of days now, so hopefully I've got it working. I bought a larger one than I needed to compensate for a cold room in the winter, but I'd expected Fluval to make something with less faff involved. However, the electronic display is really good so I do really like the product. It's a shame Fluval can't sort this problem.

Reliable, with no issues
I was hesitant about buying this heater after reading some of the more critical reviews, but I’ve not had a single problem. I’ve placed the heater next to my filter outlet in a vertical position, which stops the low flow warnings. I have the 300w heater which managed to heat 330l of water from 15c to 27c in about 24 hours. I also have a second electronic thermometer in the tank (at the other end) that shows the Fluval heater is maintaining temp accurately.

Very well made thermostat. The outer protective casing is great to avoid fishes being scalded. Nice feature from Fluval. Setting the temp is also very easy with the toggle switch to increase/decrease temp value. The display is large enough for easy readout under water and is very clear. Would reccommend it to all. Been using it for just 2 weeks now. No issues as of yet, fingers crossed. Will update review if anything more to be reported for a long term review.

Fungerar perfekt.
