I'm concerned that it could contain bacteria that could cause an infection in the sinuses.** A: I'm presuming it is. I have used it for a number of years without any ill effects. Once you follow the instructions and rinse the nozzle well after each use - you should be fine. In fact I was using another solution that I had to premix in a bottle before using and my asthma consultant recommended switching to Sterimar, if I had an infection. I now use it all the time instead of the premix as its handier for traveling etc. I hope this answers your question. :) **Q: Is this better or the same as using a sinus rinse?** A: Just had this issued to me post an op to fix my septum (inner nose).
