Without being perfect, the build quality of this small rig is good and is easy to put together with or without the instructions. It feels well balanced, but not particularly light, weighing in at 994 grammes: add camera and microphone and you are looking at 2 kilos. The handles have slots at the base so you could fit a strap and help take the load off your arms between takes, but is easy to use. You have about 6 inches/150mm of space for camera and it is enough for my XT2 and battery grip - an important point, because the battery grip has the Headphones connection and additional battery helps with performance. Other cameras have a similar setup and the grip plays an integral part in video-making. You might find a larger Canon and battery grip very snug in the space available. As I said, the build quality is good ans is the finish: the plastic (pink bits in this case) do look and feel a bit cheap, which is a pity as, otherwise, this is first class. There are several threaded holes in the base and top to add other bits and bobs - I have added a cold shoe for mic and you could add a bracket for a video light and the top handle has other positions to fix to if you need to move it out of the way. The rails can accommodate barn doors/french flag/matte box etc. All-in-all a good small rig for video and very good value.

This rig was simple to put together, nice and sturdy when assembled and feels good to hold and control, I think the instructions aren't quite right, it says to use the black Allen key in the wrong place, but there are only 4 screws so it's easy to figure out. I look forward to using the rig on my first film next month.

I’ve had his cage now for a few weeks and got a bit of use from it and here’s what: the actual cage is fine and does it’s job fine and it has loads of screw mounts to add things such a monitor. But it has one massive flaw; the rod attachments. The way it’s been designed means you cannot adjust be rods without dismantling the the rod mount since the levers don’t have space to turn. Really, i would not buy this again. I should’ve gone for the steady-cam or the full gear with shoulder stabiliser+follow focus they sell. If it suffers from the same design flaw at least I could set it up once and keep it the same. UPDATE: As it turns out you can fix the flaw in design by turning the bottom plate that holds the rail upside-down. That way you can actually remove the rails using the levers, as opposed to having to remove the entire plate.

I needed a cage for my sony RX10 as well as wanting a handle for low level filming so decided this was for me, Its really good, im able to carry the camera more confidently now its got a sturdy handle and metal all around it. For now i've removed the rails as i have no need for them but i plan to get a follow focus system at some point so will reattach the rails then. I like the multitude of mounting points on the cage, i sometimes use an audio recorder or Atomos recorder and the amount of screw points makes mounting anything anywhere really easy.

Overall this is a good, solid frame and top handle for the money. Unfortunately the included bottom part for attaching lens supports seems to be the wrong part. the colours do not match the rest of the frame and the two screw mounts on the part do not align to the frame, so only one screw can be secured not leaving me with much confidence. This product would have scored higher if it wasn't for this fault.

My teen son has bought this to add to his camera equipment. He’s says it’s super lightweight and easy to use. It really helps to make the images stable and he’s really pleased with it.

Using this piece of kit takes practice. If you're after buttery smooth shots then maybe you ought to be spending considerably more money. On the plus side I can get far better shots, particularly low down, than I could ever achieve hand-holding the camera. Another benefit, I can strap my external battery to the cage, a monitor, a mic, a light and whatever else that takes my fancy. I will soon be adding a focus adjuster. For the money, a great piece of kit. It might be worth putting a dab of locktite on the screws as they do loosen over time.

Would have liked the mount more central, it's slightly off set from centre so not as balanced.

Auf der Suche nach einem Rig mit vielen Befestigungsmöglichkeiten und ausreichend Platz bin ich auf das Video Cage Kit gestoßen, was vorweg für den Preis völlig in Ordnung ist. Das Set kommt in einem stabilen Karton mit kleinem Werkzeug, Gebrauchsanleitung und Schrauben, sodass man alles selber in kurzer Zeit zusammen bauen kann. Im Prinzip sind es 3 Einzelteile die aneinander geschraubt werden, so lässt sich das Rig auch schnell wieder auseinander schrauben wenn es platzsparend verstaut werden muss. Kompatibilität: Das Rig macht einen stabilen Eindruck, ich habe es sowohl auf meine DSLR Nikon 5100 als auch auf meiner Sony a 7iii befestigt. Die Kamera lässt sich einfach schnell darauf schrauben mit dem Schnell-Verschluss was ziemlich praktisch ist. Auch ergeben sich durch das Rig neue Möglichkeiten zu filmen. So kann man den Cage zum Beispiel am oberen Griff halten und so bequem Szenen von unten bzw. einer tieferen Einstellung filmen. Handling: Das Cage ist nicht zu schwer und liegt dank Handgriffe gut in der Hand, so entstehen ruhigere Videos. Die besten Ergebnisse erzählt man mit Steady Shot und einer Bildstabilisierung im Nachhinein. Das Rig ist allein schon sinnvoll um sein teures Equipment zu schützen, bei einem Sturz kann der Schaden durch die Konstruktion eingedämmt werden. Platzangebot: Jede Menge Platz für Mikro, Monitor etc. auch gibt es einige Befestigungsmöglichkeiten, sodass alles seinen Platz findet. Preis/Leistung: Für den Preis bekommt man ein solides Rig mit jeder Menge Möglichkeiten. Ich benutze es gerne und freue mich schon weitere Videos mit dem Cage zu drehen und es mit Equipment zu erweitern.

it looks big and awkward ---but it works for a dslr The 15 mm rods under the cage are extra handy I have a canon 6d with a 70-200 2.8 ,so the lens is mounted on the cage and the camera ( with an extra bracket ) on the rails. this is making a very rigid setup.the rails protecting the camera and long lens I have a seven inch monitor mounted onthe top left and small pre amp and mic on the right looking from the back of the camera.This works for me as i am right handed. I had the seven inch monitor a five inch monitor might be better The cage does not look too big now To me it is perfect. It is heavy stable and shoots rock steady video The cage is a good start. I cannot fault it.It is not as pretty as the custom fit cages but if you are using a big lrns it is the go
