Excellent with my old carpet cleaner. *by J***E on 20 February 2018* I have previously bought this carpet detergent to use in my wonderful, old Maytag Agility carpet cleaner. I liked the fresh smell, but yes, it does smell the same as a hard floor detergent, F****, which I also like. The results on my 17 year old, high quality, 80% wool, cream carpet: nearly perfect. I was unable to source a new water tank for the Maytag, so I bought one of the 2017/2018 range of Vax carpet cleaners. It has a lesser motor (1200 watt Rapid Advance, Purple) and has a tiny mixer tank for the detergent and larger clean and dirty water tanks. The idea is that the carpet cleaner mixes the perfect solution for you. The problem is, how much of this non-Vax solution should you put in the mixer tank? I tried pre-mixing this solution with water and putting in both the mixer and clean water tanks. I cleaned the carpet twice, but I'm afraid that the few, light marks just didn't shift. Overall, the carpet looked brighter, but not really clean. Results may just be down to the machine that you use.
