the tube doesn't show 'acountic' but the description does? saw one on www.bcprofiles.co.uk, are they same?

Everflex AC95 Acoustic Sealant & Adhesive is a high strength, permanently flexible intumescent acrylic sealant and adhesive specifically formulated for fire rated sealing and bonding applications on plasterboard and other kraft lined insulation boards. Provides up to 5 hours fire resistance Non flammable Mould resistant Easy clean up Adheres to most surfaces Excellent acoustic and intumescent barrier Acoustic rated to BS EN ISO 140/3 Tested for air permeability to EN13141-1 Ventilation for buildings

I am trying to soundproof noise coming from downstairs to upstairs. Could I use this along the outside of the floorboards?

You could, but it is an acrylic sealant that is very white it will spread and fill every little hole, very visible so you wold need to cover it, normal decorators caulking would do the same.. this stuff is for fire walls

Can this be used on external gaps/cracks around window and door frames?

Yes it can, but the tube is a very low quality and the paste was coming out from the back so i ended up using different product, also be aware it doesnt use the normal size gun it needs the big one.
