At last! An anti-pull product that works.
We have a very stubborn, and strong Boxer/Staffy cross who despite three years of trying to teach him manners on the lead still pulls terribly. He only walks nicely at the end of the walk after he's had a run around the field and is tired out. Granted, he only has vision in one eye, so he pulls when he smells something interesting or sees something on the other side of the road he can't make out, but still, as you all know, a pulling dog is not very nice to walk and can really get you down. Ok, so we also have a mad young Collie who is great off the lead, but also pulls sometimes on a lead, so walking with two dogs who seem to take it in turn to be good cop bad cop with the pulling is a double thumbs down. We have tried other brands of collar and harness from a Gentle Leader, to a Canny collar and so on, and nothing really has worked. All i can say is this Ancol harness works. It's brilliant. Because the design pulls under the dogs arm if they pull, it really does stop them from trying to. The thing is with other anti-pull collars etc, i have always thought they are flawed in design as they mainly rely on trying to counter-act the dogs pulling with putting pressure around their neck or face. The neck is the strongest area on a dog though, so no wonder they haven't worked. I have read on with envy and puzzlement at reviews of the many products we've tried that say they stopped their dog pulling, and now i am so happy to be leaving a review saying a product has finally helped stopped my dogs pulling all the time. Norman the Boxer cross is even getting a little better just on his normal collar as a result- only a tiny bit may i add, but time will tell with continued training (moaning) and use of the Ancol harness. We were a bit peeved that the first harness package we brought for our Boxer/Staffy cross did not have the instructional dvd in as advertised, but the second one we brought (after being so delighted with its results on the first dog) did have the dvd. Very sloppy from the manufacturer/retailer. There is a Youtube video kicking about showing you how to use the harness we only found after we worked out how to put the harness on through common sense. In summation- this really works. Hallelujah is all i can say.

Blissful Walk
I was going to wait a while to review this wonderful harness, but i couldn't wait any longer ๐ I bought this harness for my 9 month old Doberman pup who is becoming a very strong boy. He drags me down the road everyday to got to "his field with all his human and doggy friends" Hes terrified he will miss something if we don't get there quick enough and me only having 2 legs is just not acceptable as far as hes concerned..........its become a nightmare and the least enjoyable time of the day, not just for me but for the whole family ๐ I've spent a small fortune on our boy when it comes to collars and leads and the last resort was the one that i wrap around his snout which i was very reluctant to buy 1) because it will make him look vicious when hes a huge softy 2) i know he will without a doubt make a complete show of me yelping and trying to get it off and throw a complete tantrum! ๐ I read the reviews and its sounds like it worked well for all the other fur babies so i thought please God let this work for us too and i ordered it. I received the harness 3 days ago and put it straight on Pup now it was a bit fiddly i must admit and Pup wasn't wriggly he automatically knew it was some form of walkies contraption so he was all for it managed to get it on and took a deep breath towards the door ๐ We go out and he pulled and didn't get far, he pulled again and i was still standing in the same spot, he looked at me then with all his might took a huge LEAP OF FAITH and he still didn't make me move ๐ he looked at me as if to say "what is this sorcery" came back to my side accepted it and walked with me for the first time in forever! Now he is a Doberman so his "need to lead" the walk is genetic so he still walks in front not at my side and i accept that about him but there is little to no pulling whats so ever with this harness, if he does pull he feels the tension straight away and slacks the lead himself. These past few days i've even had a full handful of the lead in my hand instead of a tense loop, hes done amazing, I AM SUPER IMPRESSED WITH THIS HARNESS. The fact its on the side of the harness instead of on top is a God send, i can also put his coat on over him which is fantastic as its been raining these past few days. I have thoroughly enjoyed our walks and i hope more than anything if anyone else is struggling with there pully pups that they purchase one of these Harnesses too Yes, they can still pull but ever so slightly, I love this harness one of my best buys by a mile THANK YOU ๐๐โ๐ฆบ๐

The harness itself is nice to put on and off once work you out ...
I had a problem with the sizing for my cocker spaniels, the medium was too small on the bottom strap so the loops sat under their armpits rather than on the side, I have now swapped them for the large size but now the bottom strap is too long even on its shortest setting! The chest strap is also too long and needs shortening as it flaps about when the dog is running off lead, I'm going to have to get the sewing machine out and alter it but I think it's worth it. The harness itself is nice to put on and off once work you out how - its easier to undo the bottom clip to put on (over head) and undo the top clip to take off (drops to floor), its chunky and feels well made and certainly stops your arms being pulled off, although it doesn't stop the dog from pulling it's much better than a normal collar or harness. Unfortunately neither of my two will tolerate a headcollar/halti or anything over their nose so cannot compare to this, will be looking for some extra fluffy "sheaths" as these get very wet/muddy very quickly!

Fantastic Product - wish I had found it a two years ago
We have a 2 year old very stubborn cocker/springer spaniel who loves to pull, we have tried various collars and leads, a halti harnessbut none of them stop his pulling, we also tried a rope choker type lead but he pulls so much his eyes bulge and I think it would end up damaging his throat. I read all the reviews for this harness and thought they sounded to good to be true, and my partner said it would never work, it arrived yesterday and I was happy with the quality, little tricky at first to put on, but liked that the under strap was padded so would not cut under his legs, dog seemed very happy with it on. Well it did work, he didn't pull as soon as the lead would tighten he would slow slightly so the lead was loose. He tried to chase leaves but again stopped as soon as the lead went tight, thought it must just be a fluke so took him out again this morning and it worked great, I didn't have to shout once on our early morning stroll, can't wait to go out again!!! My teenage daughter has never been able to walk him on her own as he was too strong and would pull her over but I she will now be able to take him on walks.

Well made, design... could be better..
... Size - Extra Large.. 8-9... We bought this harness after having it recommended by a Pure Dog Listener.. Its quite heavy and very strong.. The idea is good, in that you gently stop the dog pulling by changing direction and rather than the dog seeing your back, they are turned around to face you... You can also change the lead to suit yourself, if the dog is walking on the left or the right hand side. It's also easy to slip on and fasten... It hasn't stopped my German Shorthaired Pointer pulling, but he knows that we change direction so just does a loop around me..(Which is quite funny to watch) BUT... It is a pain to keep attaching the lead and threading it through the stretchy loop and the metal loop, especially if like myself your dog is let off the lead at different times on a walk..(It's even worse in the wet) So I use a carabiner on the handle then attach it to the harness, not ideal but better than wet muddy hands.... My main complaint would have to be, that when he stopped to sniff for bunnies, I made the mistake of walking on, then turning around and pulling him away... When to my horror the whole harness came over his head and he was left on the side of a road with no lead and I was left with a heavy harness dropping to the floor.... I should add that I did have my harness fitted by a Pure Dog Listener, so I know it was on correctly and a perfect fit, so that is definitely something to watch out for. I hope this helps.....

Worked Instantly, Has transformed my walks.
Followed the instructions for fitting on my 3 yr old Border Collie, who is very small, bought Med. Read the instructions for training but didn't need it. As soon as we left the house she stopped pulling! And walking at my side was brilliant. Normally if on a short lead she pulls to the side putting her feet under mine so I tread on them. At certain places like busy roads she pulls ahead and my arm forward. Now my hand is still at my side. I have shown it to friends & lent it to a Springer Spaniel for two days & both have ordered one straight away. With my arthritis & bad back this is a godsend. I used to have to get her to keep sitting especially down hill/steps as I have to go really slow to not jar my back/knee. Cannot recommend this enough. I have also found an easier way to put on once fitted to size. Leave all clips fastened. Put purple over head, & pull dogs legs gently through the fleece covered belly strap from the front. Much easier than trying to get your dog to keep feet still on floor while you pull up & clip.

Amazing mind blowing bit of equipment
The most amazing bit of equipment I've ever had. This harness defies all logic, the dog cannot drag you or defy it, and it's so gentle. To look at it, you think, "what the hell", but it really does work. I rescued a 2.5 year old Spinone at 45kg in weight, he needed a halti harness around his face to control him, even that didn't work so well as he kept trying to get it off and not concentrate on you. I put this harness on him, and the difference was instant, he tried to pull and got confused as it was pulling from his side. I kept stopping when he made any pulling, and he walked back, and we started again, repetition all the time, and it worked My crazy drag-you-over Spinone now walks to heel in under 4 weeks. He's delightful now Do you want to know something else; I'm disabled and use 2 walking sticks, I'm not the most stable person on their feet, but this harness has made it possible to have him as I love big dogs I'm still trying to stop him from walking in front of the sticks about every 10 steps he gets a little in front, but I stop, and he walks back to my side. I use with a halti lead that goes across my body as I'm unable to hold it in my hands. What I am angry about is the sizing; there are no correct measurements on the postings, all the sellers have to do is take a picture of the back of the packaging, where the sizes are very clear and precise, because I read the sellers' measurements, I ended up with a size too big, but I had no choice but to use it until I ordered a new one. Amazon need to look at this My last assistance dog died very unexpectedly, and now I have a new Italian Spinone. Again, a large dog pulling on a lead. My immediate thought went to the "happy at heal", but I had given them away. I bought another and I'm not sorry. My disabilities are worse now, I use a forearm walker I can't hold anything, but with my halti lead across my body and the new happy at heal harness it's working again. I stop and to a circle with my walker and now he knows, every time he goes in from, the slack has become a tight pull around we go. I need to attache "assistance sog" on the harness but there nothing so I've to to think of something.

Great harness
We've had this for a couple of weeks now and I would throughly recommend this harness to anyone with a dog who pulls. I don't usually do reviews on things but I have to say this product is truly fantastic - it really does stop your dog from pulling. I don't know how it manages to achieve this but it honestly does! Our extremely headstrong, over excitable pointer now trots along quite happily at our side - none of the relentless, exhausting pulling that he does when a lead is attached directly to his collar. We also use this harness with an extendable lead and again, no trying to charge off into the distance at mach speed. All our dog owner friends have noticed the difference and are amazed at how well he behaves when he has the harness on (obviously not though when let loose!!). Big thank you to the folks who developed it :) (and no, I don't know them!!) Oh yes... things you're probably looking for here... 1. this product is basically 2 items - the harness and the lead. The harness is the fab bit, the lead is just a normal lightweight lead 2. easy enough to put on and off. We take the whole harness off when in the field, not fiddle about trying to get the lead in and out of the D-rings (use the clip at the side, not top or bottom) 3. easy to clean 4. your kids will now be able to take your mad dog out which will mean you don't always have to!!

Amazing difference!
We have tried just about everything on our dogs and they can be fairly good walkers but become excited and may lunge at other dogs. Most products help but my dogs find ways to pull anyway or even pull out of the leash. This product helps turn them when they begin pulling so that you are able to get their attention and redirect them. Unlike most other products your arm is resting because the dogs body would be turned if they were pulling. This product is wonderful! I would recommend it to anyone! It has made an incredible difference and makes me want to take our dogs for walks and gives me the confidence I need that I can control them even if they do begin lunging. That way we are able to socialize them and train them without feeling defeated every time!

Helps stop the pulling
Our 70 pound dog is a puller and a lunger (after cats), and we've tried lots of different leashes as well as different types of training but nothing worked well. What I like about this one is that it's comfortable for both me and the dog. He still pulls some, but it's about 80% less, which allows me to handle him. I'm also better able to guide him away from a trigger (cat, other dog). Great product and would buy again.

Love this product
Love this product, it really works! My golden retriever has been a "puller" on the leash no matter what harness I tried. This is the first one where she cannot pull as much anymore. She still has to get used to it and there's an instructional video that comes with it that's helpful in teaching you what you want him to do. Very simple though. I must say it doesn't stop her from pulling altogether- YET- but that may be because we haven't trained her much on it yet, that's important for it to work, we're still working on that. So I can't say for sure it works 100%- however it works far better than others and I have tried a lot! - I would definitely recommended this for all those "pullers" out there as it cuts down on pulling so much it does make a huge difference . Our walks are so much calmer now, wish I would have found this harness sooner.
