## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this compatible with iMac mid 2010? And, can I install 4 x 4Gb RAMs, replacing the 2 x 2Gb ones that originally come with it? Thank you**
A: Yes, it is compatible and you can install 4*4GB or 2*8GB (16GB in total). If your model is 27 inch i5/i7, it can supports up to 32GB.

**Q: How do you install this. my 2011 imac 21.5inch has stopped woking and the apple forum says its the ram. complete novice!!**
A: It really is very easy, Charlie. It takes 5 minutes.

Find your iMac model here and follow the instructions:
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201191

Handle the memory cards carefully (avoid oil, grease, dust etc) but also when you install, make sure you push until you feel/hear them click into place.

Good luck!

Cheers

Mike

**Q: Mid 2011 imac compatible?
imac 21,5 has 2 x 2gb standard installed
are these 2x 4gb modules compatible and can be they fitted in addition ?**
A: I have a macbook pro from the same year and it had two ports of 2gb, I then brought X 2 DDR3 8gb modules and they are perfect.

Be warned though, dont expect a massive jump in speed, I mean like Huge, Because its all about getting an SSD. A solid state Hardrive will work nicely with x2 DDR3 8gb modules. It will fly like the the wind. Seriously.

I've maxed my 2011 MBP to 16gb DDR3 but there was only a slight difference from 8gb. Though It was definitely faster I wasn't what I expected.

Oh and by the way if you're planning on filling up both slots, make sure they are equal, eg slot 1. 8gb. Slot 2. 8gb. They don't like uneven memory. It will make it faster by a bit and you won't get any issues. At one point I had an 8gb and a 2gb, it didn't blowup or anything haha but would have caused a few small issues if I'd left it in forever. I changed it after a few months.

But do please bear in mind that an SSD is like putting 20gb in. The RAM can only work as fast as the HD and an old mechanical one will slow it down.

Think of it like a record player and the data is written from the rim to the middle. Well if your working on a new piece and want to go and use a program you used when you first got it, its going to take a while to load.

I've still got and use my 2011 MBP but I also have a SSD PC with only 8gb RAM. There is 16gb in my old Mac. And the PC with the SSD is like x10 the speed. I loads quicker than a tablet.

Hope that helped. Shame apple make it so hard now to get in and play about unlike they used to
