Moen Home Care 24" Peened Stainless Grab Bar

This grab bar stands proud of wall surface 2-3/4" which is more streamlined than some, but allows ample space for easily grasping the bar. Very pleased with the size and finish. Item arrived on time. Easy to install.

Added this bar and its 12" companion to the guest bathroom tub/shower when we needed to use that facility for a couple of weeks. While I did not install it myself, the contractor (doing other work in the house) who did it used my impact driver to do so. He used his tile bit but they are readily available at the "big box" stores. So, could have done it myself but got lazy. Pretty straightforward installation. Find the studs (hardest part), pilot the holes through cultured marble and sheet rock, and drive the screws (nice and long and heavy duty) in. I will say when I was trying to decide what what length to get for 16" OC studs, I said a few things under my breath about there not being (that I found in this styles) a 16" bar for level installation. However, installed at an angle (low end at the back of the tub and high end at the faucet/shower head end) spanning 2 studs. It has worked out very well for a couple of oldies to feel more secure (the "peened" rough surface helps with that) getting in & out & standing there showering.

I was a maintenance director for a large hotel chain for over 20 years. I used these exact bars in every single one of my hotels. For the price and durability they cannot be beat. Now that I'm older and in need of assistance in my home, these are what I am installing. Helpful hint for anyone installing them. You must anchor these in something solid. It is worth it to buy longer stainless steel anchors or screws and do not just anchor them in sheetrock. You will regret it. The anchors provided with the bars you might as well throw away. They are useless.

Good product, the grip is just right. The Moen drywall anchors (sold separately) worked perfectly with this and are very strong. I installed about a dozen of these in the last few years in various homes of relatives and they have worked great. Buy the separate anchors if you don't have a convenient stud, they work great in showers

Good grab bar. One drawback is that attachment/mounting plates are welded to the tube. This rigidity makes it slightly harder to mount the unit.

Very safe and does a very good job on making sure showers are safe.

Needed a handle in the shower to hold on to due to a knee surgery. This was perfect.

Very good bar. I am very pleased with the Moen grab bar systems they manufacture. As a contractor and one who has supplied many handicap bars to customers over the years, these have been some of the best. Three things to point out for those needing to find a bar for their needs: 1. Moen makes two diameter bars - 1 1/4" and 1 1/2". Both are ADA approved, just depends on your needs. This one is a 1 1/4" diameter which was perfect for my customer. Some people have a hard time gripping their hands around the 1 1/2" ones. 2. Bars come either in a smooth finish or a "peened" finish. I always strongly recommend the peened finish to all my customers for gripping purposes, especially if these bars are in a wet environment such as showers. That extra sense of security goes a long way. 3. From an installation stand point, I like the concealed flange style. That cap adds a finishing touch so you don't see the screws. The biggest response from my customers - they wished they had put them in years ago. It's not just an old person/unstable/unsightly thing. I have installed for many people for all age groups including the young. It's better to be safe!
