Can someone tell me - are the American cup sizes on this for dry or liquid measurements?

The cup sizes are for either dry or liquid. A cup of water is the same as a cup of flour. So I don't quite get the question. On the other hand both English and American pints are on here, as are cups and a basic milliliters chart. All of the dry measuring items, such as rice or tapioca give bother ounces and grams. So, one could easure 100 grams of rolled oats or 4 oz of rolled outs, or 1 cup of rolled oats (English or American). Hope that's helpful.

Does this measure porridge oats?

The cooks measure is marked with a number of dry weight measurements, so if your porridge oats are dry, then the answer is yes.

can this be used to measure carbohydrates

Different dry ingredients are written on the inside of the measurer with a volume (fill up to line). However being made from a single stamped pressed metal it won't hold liquids as they leak from seam where it has been machine pressed.ie sugar, flour etc. Also if hand washing you have to ensure it is completely dry before storage or else it will rust . Why is 5 the minimum order on this?????

I am sure is isn't. If you change the style number on the order page it will revert back to 1. and that is all you need to order. It was all I did. Hope this helps.
