Saved my life using in-car wi-fi within my holiday home! Godsend!
So far, so good. I see there are a few reviews that state this did not work well for some, so in time, if it malfunctions, I will let you know!I am using this with absolute delight because some time back, I bought myself an in-car wi-fi unit. Great at the time except, these days, I need the wi-fi in the house not in the car. So I had this useless wi-fi unit designed for my car, sitting munching up a monthly data package on contract, but I was unable to use it.Then I relocated to a holiday home in Scotland and the damn place's integral wi-fi keeps going down, and my mobile dongle is moody--leaving me with days I just couldn't work, or frustrating visits to the holiday park's grill bar where even their bar wi-fi was awful. Plus, it cost me a lot in food and drink to sit there. The frustrating part was knowing the in-car wi-fi device was sitting in the car unusable while I was losing money--because all my work is internet-based. Of course, the car device has a 12v connector only suitable for a car.So, eventually, I had the bright idea to see if there was a connector to allow me to use the 12v unit inside the holiday home. Hey presto! Found this thing. It was easy to use, just assemble the lead (no issues unlike those others have reported), plug in the in-car wi-fi unit using the 12v socket--Internet! Internet!! Yay!I have been using this for a few hours now and will keep an eye on whether it overheats. Never quite trust electronics these days as you do not know the manufacturing quality--but seems good so far. Will go have a feel and see how hot it is... Answer: not hot at all, perfectly cool to touch the transformer. That's quite something.Impressed thus far, and it is a very sturdy device with big fat cables, just as I like. Saved my life.

Is anyone paying attention to standards or descriptions?
The star ratings are a stupid joke: "Warmth, sheerness, thickness"? It's a bleeding power supply not a panty hose! And the UK power lead that comes with it does not match UK standards. There is a partial sleeve on the Earth pin, there should only be partial sleeves on the Live and Neutral. If you have one of these, change your lead to a properly earthed lead.Jesus! They're still sending out below standard leads with a host of Chinese mains powered products. Has no-one noticed? Amazon! Pay attention, your market place is chock full of below par goods; have you no shame.

Not just a cigar lighter!
Summer is coming, and children's inflatable paddling pools take a lot of puff to blow up. I decided to use my AA air compressor (for car tyres), but it is 12V and fitted with a car cigar lighter plug. This transformer fitted the bill to run the compressor from household mains electricity. I was surprised at the large size of the transformer block, and I'm used to USB power adaptors, and even laptop power transformers are smaller.

Very powerful (fast) charger
Because its 12V 10A its very fast, I use it to charge a booster for car batteries

It arrived well packaged, on time, and is a very robust well made piece of equipment.
It arrived well packaged and on time, it is a very robust piece of equipment and works really well, I have used it on my 12V car tyre inflation pump and I have never known it to work so well, compared to the cars 12v socket the pump ran a lot smoother for some reason, I guess it is down to the 12V 10Amp power supply it contains

This is just dangerous
I wish I had read some of the reviews before buying, those that point out the safety issues are quite right. This item contravenes UK and European standards for electrical safety. The plug should not have insulation on the earth pin and the fuse is not to BS1362. The fuse is also rated at 13A whereas the mains cable is rated for no more than 6A. The connection into the power supply is a poor fit, which probably explains the melted connector noted by another reviewer. I replaced the plug fuse with a genuine BS1362 3A fuse and ran the unit while I worked nearby as I don't believe the 100% burn-in claim. It worked for some hours but then failed, blowing the plug fuse. It had got very hot. I replaced the fuse with a new 3A one and it would not power up at all. It did not blow the new fuse but has obviously blown up internally. Had I not fitted a 3A fuse it is possible the flex could have melted exposing live contacts or catching fire. The response from JRing to my initial comment that the plug did not appear to meet BS1363 was that they had a certificate that they could provide, but this is nonsense as visual inspection shows it is not to standard. The BS 'kitemark' and approval stamps on the plug are therefore fraudulent and this item should not be on the market (anywhere). If you have bought one of these and are prepared to use it my recommendation is to immediately replace the 13A fuse with a genuine 3A one and to ensure the power supply and its flex is well away from any combustible items, and that it is not left unattended, definitely not overnight. This thing could burn you house down. Full refund has been requested.

Works well enough but build quality could have been better.
I bought this so that I could use my 12v car powered appliances indoors and in the garden. While it does work as intended, it took a considerable amount of effort to insert the power cable into the adapter block as it was really stiff. This was most likely due to a poorly built connector as I could see some of the pins and little bits of metal sticking out from them. After I forced the connector in it did work and while the plug goes in much easier now it still takes much more effort than needed. At the end of the day, it works and does what I needed it to, I just feel the socket issue should have been picked up during quality control.
